With trial, Edwards enters next chapter of political soap opera

(CNN) – On any given day in the fall of 2007, John Edwards could be heard preaching his populist prose to Iowa voters who eagerly packed into lumber barns, VFW halls and Culver restaurants across the state.

His message was less about the two Americas of his 2004 campaign - the haves and the have-nots - and more about fighting for the middle class and ending poverty in America.

Protesters equate greed with Romney

New York (CNN) - Political activists from MoveOnPolitical.org and other liberal organizations gathered Wednesday in New York to protest against GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and corporate greed.

Romney held a private breakfast fundraiser at the Grand Hyatt hotel while two dozen protesters stood outside chanting and holding mock campaign signs that read "Greed is Good! Romney-Gekko 2012," referring to the infamous Wall Street movie and fictional character Gordon Gekko, played by actor Michael Douglas. The signs showed a photo of Romney as CEO of Bain Capital.

Edwards' fate on hold as grand jury delayed

Raleigh, North Carolina (CNN) - The fate of former presidential candidate John Edwards will rest in the hands of the U.S. Justice Department for another week after an investigation into his campaign finances was delayed.

A grand jury was set to meet this week in North Carolina, but those proceedings were put on hold, sources told CNN. Sources familiar with the inquiry told CNN last week that prosecutors want Edwards to plead guilty to a felony charge and the former senator and his legal team are discussing a plea deal.

"You see what can be done with proper leadership. We in this country, we don't have unfortunately that leadership," said Trump when specifically asked about President Obama and what he would do differently. Trump was speaking at a press conference in New York City.

Probe Against Edwards Winding Down?

Raleigh, NC (CNN) - Fewer staffers and campaign aides of 2008 Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards are being summoned to appear in person before a grand jury in Raleigh, possibly indicating a final phase of prosecutors' efforts in the case, multiple sources tell CNN.

The grand jury, which meets in secret, was expected to reconvene Wednesday. It has been meeting as prosecutors work to prove whether or not Edwards illegally used campaign funds to cover up an affair with a campaign videographer, Rielle Hunter.
