Obama addresses Tuesday's White House briefing

(CNN) - President Barack Obama said Tuesday that "some progress was made" with "some narrowing of the issues" in talks with congressional leaders over the weekend on a deficit reduction plan that would bring Republican support for raising the debt ceiling.

He said the deadline for reaching an agreement in deficit reduction talks to raise the federal debt ceiling is approaching, telling reporters that "we're in the 11th hour and we don't have a lot of time left."

Obama to announce summer 2012 U.S. force withdrawal from Afghanistan

Washington (CNN)–President Barack Obama will announce Wednesday night that he's ordering the withdrawal of all 33,000 surge forces in Afghanistan by summer of 2012, a senior administration official told CNN.

President Obama to defend military involvement in Libya

(CNN) – President Obama is set to defend U.S. military involvement in Libya to Congress as soon as today, according to the White House.

Congressional sources are expecting a written report answering a number of questions the House of Representatives posed in a resolution passed with bipartisan support over a week ago, including inquiries about the president's goal in Libya, how he hopes to achieve that goal, why he has not sought congressional authorization for involving U.S. troops abroad and how much the conflict will ultimately cost.

Obama takes his campaign to Broadway

Washington (CNN) - Democratic fundraisers are hoping the lyrics from the final song in the movie “Sister Act: “I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go,” will resonate with donors next week in New York City. They are gearing up for President Obama’s unique fundraising venue on Broadway at a performance of Sister Act: The Musical.

As part of a push to raise re-election funds ahead of the Federal Election Committee’s June 30th quarterly fundraising deadline, Whoopi Goldberg will host a performance of the show in the president’s honor, Democratic sources tell CNN.
