Obama campaign says president's AF-1 fund-raising call 'routine'

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's plea for donations from Air Force One was "a routine fund-raising call," according to a senior campaign official.

The call, which the official confirmed took place Friday, was recorded and posted in part on the Daily Beast.

Computer model shows perfect storm for Obama

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama is running against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, but the economy may truly be his greatest opponent.

"It's not the only factor, but it's arguably the most important factor," said George Washington University associate professor John Sides, who has created a computer model to analyze the impact of the economy on the presidential campaign.

White House calls attacks on leaks 'grossly irresponsible'

Washington (CNN) - The White House denied authorizing national security leaks and pushed back on criticism that the release of sensitive information was politically motivated Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One as the president traveled to campaign events on the West Coast, spokesman Jay Carney called the latter charge “grossly irresponsible.”

Obama flies west to find gold

Colorado Springs, Colorado (CNN) – As part of the race to collect campaign cash, President Barack Obama is expected to raise nearly $3.5 million dollars during his visit to Colorado and California this week.

After delivering the commencement address at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Wednesday, the president traveled to Denver, Colorado, where he will attend a reception at the Hyatt Regency.

Washington (CNN) – On the heels of disappointing jobs numbers, the White House says President Barack Obama will travel Tuesday to Albany, New York, where he'll deliver remarks on the economy.

Government official acknowledges past Secret Service misconduct

Washington (CNN) - With more reports surfacing of misconduct by Secret Service personnel and other federal law enforcement officers during overseas trips, a U.S. government official familiar with the Secret Service acknowledged missteps by Secret Service agents in the past, but was quick to defend the government’s internal review process.

"We have had employees that have engaged in misconduct," the official told CNN. "People make mistakes."

Blasts, Secret Service incident overshadow start of Colombia summit

Cartagena, Colombia (CNN) - The United States has "never been more excited" to work as equal partners with countries in Latin America, President Barack Obama said Saturday at the Summit of the Americas.

Such promises by U.S. presidents - Obama included - have been made before, but the remarks was nonetheless applauded by an audience of business leaders.
