Obama to NASA: Let me know if you see Martians

White House (CNN) - President Barack Obama called the members of NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover team on Monday to congratulate them on the rover’s recent landing on Mars, but he also asked for a heads up if they find any signs of life.

“If in fact, you do make contact with Martians please let me know right away,” the president joked. “Because I've got a lot of other things on my plate but I suspect that that will go to the top of the list – even if they're just microbes, it will be pretty exciting.”

Obama pays house visit to Reno couple

Reno, Nevada (CNN) - It’s not every day the President of the United States shows up on your doorstep. But that was the case for Paul and Val Keller at their Reno, Nevada, home on Friday.

The reason for the president's visit was to highlight problems with mortgage refinancing and to urge Congress to do more to help homeowners. Many families, like the Kellers, are struggling to refinance their home because they owe more than their home is worth. The Kellers purchased their $168,000 home fourteen years ago, yet now it is only worth $100,000.
