Ryan Rages Against the Machine

Washington (CNN) - Although Rage thinks Paul Ryan is just another cog in the "Machine," that doesn't stop the Republican vice presidential hopeful from rocking out to the rap metal group's anti-establishment lyrics.

"Rage Against the Machine is not going to be down with that," said Lorraine Ali, pop music editor at the Los Angeles Times.

$71 million buys a lot of Obama's favorite things

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election campaign released its June fundraising numbers Monday, reporting that it raised $71 million to Republican opponent Mitt Romney's approximately $100 million. The campaign responded with thanks to the more than 706,000 donors who got the campaign to that point but also appealed for more money.

"We still got beat - and not by a little bit," Ann Marie Habershaw, chief operating officer for Obama for America, said in the e-mail. "If we lose this election, it will be because we didn't close the gap enough when we had the chance."

Immigration reform back to square one

Washington (CNN) – After two years of protests, boycotts and lawsuits over Arizona's immigration law, Monday's Supreme Court decision leaves the state of immigration reform almost unchanged with states frustrated and Congress avoiding the debate.

"I would guess [Congress] won't touch this with a 10-foot pole until after they come back after the election," Charles H. Kuck, managing partner at Kuck Immigration Partners in Atlanta, told CNN.

Despite different paths, candidates' fathers shaped where they arrived

Washington (CNN) – Mitt Romney worshiped his father. Barack Obama barely knew his.

In the nature-versus-nurture debate, psychologists say fathers play an important role in the men their sons become. And the two presidential candidates' relationships with their fathers offer insight into the men they are today.
