Graham says 'enemy combatant' can be tried in civilian court

(CNN) - Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspect in federal custody for the Boston Marathon bombing, should be considered an enemy combatant only for interrogation purposes, not so he can be tried in a military tribunal, Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday.

"He is not eligible for military commission trial," the Republican senator from South Carolina said on CNN's "State of the Union." Graham argued Tsarnaev should be tried in a civilian trial in federal courts.

Trump's new charity drive

(CNN) – In a much-hyped announcement, real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump pulled yet another flashy move on Wednesday offering a monetary incentive in exchange for private information from President Barack Obama's past.

Trump, in a stunt designed to draw media attention and set afire the conservative blogosphere, said he would donate $5 million to charity if the president released his college records and passport applications.

Ohio secretary of state to appeal early voting ruling to Supreme Court

(CNN) – Ohio's secretary of state announced Tuesday he will move to appeal a federal court's recent ruling that overturned an early voting restriction in the state.

Jon Husted said he will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to consider the case. On Friday, a federal appeals court sided with the Obama campaign in its protest against a ban on voting in the final weekend–Saturday, Sunday, and Monday–before Election Day.

Obama campaign: DNC is on, 'rain or shine'

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) - Officials with the Democratic National Convention said Tuesday that they will have a contingency plan ready in case storms interrupt their plans to hold Thursday evening's convention activities outside.

But "we are rain or shine going forward," said a senior Obama campaign official who spoke Tuesday with CNN reporters covering the convention.

(CNN) - Florida Rep. Connie Mack won Tuesday's Republican primary in Florida over other Republicans seeking to challenge Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

Mack's main opponents–former Rep. Dave Weldon and retired Army Col. Mike McCalister–conceded.
