Obama, Clinton have 'informal, private' White House lunch

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had an "informal, private" lunch together Thursday, according to a White House official.

The lunch was not on Obama's public schedule and only became public when People Magazine tweeted a photo of a Sandra Westfall, the magazine's Washington bureau chief, with Clinton that suggested the former first lady was having lunch with Obama.

Obama taps Castro for HUD, Donovan for OMB

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama nominated San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro to be his next secretary of Housing and Urban Development on Friday, a move that comes as part of a wider cabinet shakeup and has stepped up interest in the rising Democratic star.

The 39-year old, three-term mayor first gained national recognition when he delivered the keynote address at the 2012 Democratic National Convention - the first Hispanic to do so.

White House to stress equal pay in policy, political push

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will go back to the first law he signed as president on Tuesday, addressing equal pay with two new executive actions that satisfy both policy and political priorities within the White House.

According to a White House official, Obama's executive actions will focus on "pay secrecy," the idea that women who are paid less than their male counterparts may not know it because they don't know what other employees are making.
