Why the NRA won't talk gun control with Obama

Washington (CNN) - The chief spokesman for the National Rifle Association is expected to get an invitation any day now to sit down at the Justice Department for talks aimed at reaching a consensus on new gun control legislation.

But don't put down NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre as a "yes."

Lodging 'on the house' for some members of Congress

Washington (CNN) - After a long day on Capitol Hill, Illinois Republican Rep. Joe Walsh checks into what's become the cheapest hotel in Washington – his own office.

His sofa is not exactly a king size bed. "I gotta be honest. It's horrible. The couch is very uncomfortable," Walsh said. "I've rolled off to a thud," added Walsh, an active sleeper.

Tea Party congressman clashes over Islam at town hall

Boynton Beach, Florida (CNN) - Freshman Republican Congressman Allen West clashed with an advocate for Muslim-American civil rights at a sometimes-rowdy town hall meeting Monday night.

The tense exchange drew boos from a standing room only, largely Republican crowd.

The confrontation came as West, an Iraq War veteran who was backed by the Tea Party in last November's election, took questions from constituents. Nezar Hamze, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Miami, stepped to the microphone and accused West of making anti-Muslim comments in the past.
