Jackie Gingrich, first wife of Newt Gingrich, dies at 77

Atlanta (CNN) - Jackie Gingrich, the first wife of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and the mother of his two daughters, died Wednesday in Atlanta, according to the funeral home organizing her arrangements. She was 77.

The Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton, Georgia, did not give her cause of death, but Gingrich had battled cancer for years.

Friend: Woman in sexting scandal loves politics, 'idealized' Weiner

(CNN) – The woman at the center of the Anthony Weiner scandal is a 23-year-old Indiana native who is passionate about politics, and was a strong supporter of the New York politician even after he resigned from Congress amid similar circumstances two years ago, a friend said Wednesday.

Sydney Elaine Leathers actively posts about politics and her Democratic views on Facebook. That's where she met Lou Colagiovanni, a political blogger and writer who moderates a political Facebook page where Leathers frequently posted messages.

Second woman accuses San Diego mayor of sexual harassment

(CNN) - A former campaign staffer for San Diego Mayor Bob Filner became the second woman to publicly accuse him of sexual harassment, saying Tuesday that the then-congressman patted her "posterior" while at a fundraising event.

Laura Fink, who now runs a political consulting firm, told CNN affiliate KPBS that it happened in 2005 when she was working as Filner's deputy campaign manager.
