(CNN) - Mike Huckabee sat in his television studio in New York City Saturday night and announced he would not be running for president.
Instead, he'd continue hosting his weekly show and collecting a Fox News paycheck, playing bass guitar occasionally and making a few speeches around the country. After the live announcement on his TV show, a pre-taped message from Donald Trump aired, with the Donald saying, "a lot of people are very happy that he will not be running, especially other candidates."
(CNN)–What is Jon Stewart? A lot was made of the "Daily Show" host after his D.C. rally, which got major national attention and saw hundreds of thousands of fans in attendance. Recently Stewart took up the cause of the 9/11 first responders, called out the Senators holding up the health care bill and held a powerful panel of first responders to talk about the issue. Late last week, it passed.
Today the New York Times (as well as NPR) profiled Stewart and his successful 9/11 first responder efforts, with the NYT saying it had "echoes of Murrow" – referring to legendary news anchor Edward R. Murrow. Stewart is an extremely influential member of the media. But he is not like Murrow – or even a journalist.
(CNN) - RNC Chairman Michael Steele announced last night he would seek re-election, surprising some detractors and others from inside the party who were hinting he would be done at the end of the year.
Instead, Steele will fight on – after an onslaught of jabs from the left and right media, and new media in general, during his tenure at the helm of the party.
(CNN) - As former President George W. Bush and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin compete for book sales, a slight war of words has flared up between the two sides. Barbara Bush said Palin should "stay in Alaska," with Palin responding that the Bushes are "blue-bloods."
Now Bush's brother is jumping into the mix: Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush says Palin has "incredible skill" but sides with his mother in the debate.
(CNN) - Former President George W. Bush has been all over the media recently promoting his new book "Decision Points," which delves into key moments from his presidency and gives an honest assessment of his past struggles with alcohol and more. All this has brought Bush 43 into an elite group of former (and current) Presidents – the million book sales club.
As the book enters week number two, it has some new competition.
(CNN) - "Dancing with the Stars" continues to enjoy enormous ratings – and enormous amounts of controversy and decidedly non-dancing publicity. The ABC competition show will conclude tonight, and viewers will find out whether Bristol Palin can pull off the upset victory. Meanwhile the other show with Bristol as co-star, "Sarah Palin's Alaska," is seeing ratings erosion for episode two.
