Cheney: Senate probe is a "witch hunt"

Vice President Dick Cheney.

(CNN)–Vice President Dick Cheney told CNN's Lary King Tuesday his thoughts on the Senate investigation regarding the firings of U.S. Attorneys. "With respect to the U.S. Attorneys, there has been, I think, a bit of a witch hunt on Capitol Hill as they keep rolling over rocks hoping they can find something," he said. "But there really hasn't been anything that has come up to suggest that there was any wrongdoing of any kind."

When asked his thoughts on the man at the center of the controversy, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Cheney was equally resolute. "Al's a good man, a good friend, on a difficult assignment," he said.

"Are you troubled by what appears to have happened, the appearance of him not telling the truth?" King asked. "Well, I don't want to get into the specifics with respect to his testimony and the questions that were asked. I know Al on a personal and professional basis and I hold him in high regard," Cheney replied. The Vice president again re-stated his support for Gonzales.

Cheney also discussed with King his role as President of the Senate.

The full interview with Vice President Cheney can be seen on "Larry King Live" at 9:00pm eastern Tuesday on CNN.

Dear God!! Those doctors who fixed his pacemaker in the past week should be shot and tried for treason!! I can't believe they fixed Cheney when we finally had our chance to get rid of him! Then only "King Dumbo George" would stand in the way of Nancy Pelosi becoming le Prez!!

What do you expect him to say? His appointees are covering this Constitutionally challenged Imperial Presidencies behind.

This most secreative administration in modern history is not used to oversight and transperancy as the prior Republican led Congress, over the last six years, had abducated it's Constitutionally mandated resposibilities.

Welcome to a Congress that knows what the U.S. Constitution is, and understands the role of co-equal branches of governement.

    Thank you Framers!

Why ask this guy questions regarding ethics, he has zero. The American people should be the judge of whether the AG is lying, not some self serving "lame duck VP" who has had his problem with credibility issues throughout this administration's time in office.

Cheney is a direct line descendent of Rebecca Nurse, the woman who was accused of witchery in the Salem Witch trials. Perhaps this scenario is just a little bit too 'familiar' for him.

Why does anyone need to "keep rolling over rocks" when this administration's flagant anti-American activity is so readily visible? They're flushing the rights our ancestors fought – and died – for down the toilet as we inch our way closer to becoming a police state. They continue to lie about the Iraq War. They obstruct any attempt to discern the *truth* about any given matter, labeling anyone who is against them as un-American. Isn't that what the communists did?

The actions of the Bush administration have been deplorable from day one. It amazes me to think that we saw a president impeached over a small-time land deal and sexual affair, yet no one is willing to act against a president who has put us so deeply in debt that we'll probably never dig our way out, a president who has repeatedly lied to the public about matters that affect *all* of us (yes, this is very different from lying about having sex with an intern!), and who has repeatly shown no regard for the wishes of the people.

Are we still living in the United States???

Geez and I thought Larry King was a journalist ! Just more tired, old "talking points". Did "Buckshot" tell you what questions he'd answer Larry? It would seem as such as there certainly wasn't anything outside the mundane about your discussion !

It is a difficult thing to accept when the single-mindedness of this administration has finally circled back and is causing as much internal destruction as they started. No person is above the law – and eventually that principle will be upheld.

The US Attorneys themselves state that they were fired because they refused to go along with the Electoral Fraud plans of Gonzales and the GOP, so how can Cheney say there is nothing to suggest "wrongdoing of any kind?" Statements like this just make people distrust the vice president even more. From the evidence there is plenty to suggest illegal election fraud in this case.

And the sad charade continues. As America slides down the slippery slope to Mussolini's dream of a corporate-fascist state, Cheney et al keep everyone at bay by proliferating he masquerade that the Republicrats and Democans are really two opposing parties. As the road is paved for President-select Hillary Clinton to continue the consolidation of the New World Order, the average American continues to buy the line that the Clintons and Bushes are bitter enemies and not partners in crime, as they have been dating back to Iran/Contra when Bill Clinton ran George HW Bush's Contra-arming cocaine importation scheme in Mena, Arkansas, so well that he was rewarded with the Presidency. Thomas Paine et al would have long ago raised an army to depose these criminal thugs.

Old five time deferment Dick does it again. Why ask him questions, he has already told Bush what to do each day.

Witch hunt???? It won't be long Dick until you are out of there and counting your millions made from this stupid war and it will take 20 yrs to undo the damage you created around the world.
