Giuliani camp calls Judith profile "hatchet job"

Giuliani's campaign struck back at a Vanity Fair article about his wife Judith.

NEW YORK (CNN) - If you're Judith Giuliani, Vanity Fair is not your best friend. An article in the magazine’s September issue reads: "Terror Alert, Judi Giuliani." It goes downhill from there and it’s got former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s camp crying "hatchet job.”

“There are so many inaccuracies in that story,” Mark McKeon, Rudy Giuliani’s senior adviser told CNN, “so many innuendoes in that story that is so vile that it really isn't worth going into."

But Vanity Fair’s Judy Bachrach stands by her story and every last unflattering detail.

“When the Giuliani people say that Vanity Fair or I’ve done a hatchet job, you have to consider the source,” says Bachrach. “They are the kings of hatchets. They try to muzzle the press at every opportunity.”

Despite the Giuliani campaign’s uncooperativeness, Bachrach says she prevailed in writing "Giuliani’s Princess Bride,” referring to the tiara Judith wore on her wedding day and quoting an un-named former Rudy Giuliani aide who said, "Queen is her goal."

The former mayor stood up for his wife at a campaign event on Tuesday saying, “I think the article is a very incorrect article that has an enormous numbers of inaccuracies in it. And one of the unfortunate prices that families pay in a situation like this is that they get castigated, attacked, and most of the time reporters doesn't even ask about it.”

But Bacharach said she tried to interview Judith Giuliani and was denied access. Through others, Bacharach says she determined that Mrs. Giuliani is an "opportunist" who went after a famous, married man, with kids – then Mayor Rudolph Giuliani – and "proffered her business card,” flaunting their affair by appearing at New York City functions while then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani was still married.

Bacharach went on to write that Judith Giuliani is now enjoying the fame and wealth that accompanies being married to the former mayor, among the perks: a "full-time assistant” to style her hair, designer clothes, and when she flies, an “entire plane seat for Judith’s ‘Baby Louis’” – a Louis Vuitton designer bag.

The Giuliani camp says none of those allegations are true, including the full time hairdresser. As for whether any of this will hurt the campaign, the Giuliani campaign told CNN it will have no effect.

I have worked in politics for years and get pretty tired of articles that poke fun or bad-mouth the families of politicians. It is one thing to bring out into the open things that a candidate does while running for election; it is another thing entirely to mock his family or write unkind things about them.

Rudy Giuliani and his family may not be perfect individuals but he did a great service to this country when he stood tall during 9/11 and I believe he has the strength and courage to be an awesome United States President.

Leave the mud-slinging about him (if you have to do any) and give his wife and children the privacy and compassion that they deserve. How would you feel if someone attacked your spouse in the press?

    Thank you,

CNN is more than happy to peddle the trash that VANITY FAIR has for sale... oh, that's right, it's not CNN, it's Vanity Fair! That excuses CNN... they're just reporting what Vanity Fair reported... and when they enable Al-Qaeda to parade hostages around before they cut their heads off by broadcasting only 'what Al Jazeera is already broadcasting', well that's ok too, isn't it. After all, it's not CNN, it's Al Jazeera doing the enabling.

The American public needs to keep women and men of class and morals in the White House. This couple does not exemplify these traits. Laura Bush is classy, not trashy.

This is the story of republicans now, coming home to roost. The party of values , small goverment has now given me options to poll for 'none of the above' over sex , lies and video tape candidates.

Can we get a single non flip flopper in my party???

I do believe this.......plus do not think much of him either treating his wife and children they way he did. And his son confirms it by his actions.

She has alot of baggage and surely would never vote for Rudi as long as he is with her and plus the way he treated his wife. Another pompus man like Mr. Trump.

If ya can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. It is a well known documented fact that she was running around (and S*******)with him when he was still married to his wife and living in the mayors mansion. Now its time to pay the piper and they are crying foul. Shame on both of them, I don't think of him as much of a man either.

The media needs to stay out of affecting the presidential race. They need to report news and not be in the job of spreading their political agenda. When a "reporter" gets to this level of bashing he/she becomes part of the story rather than reporting it.

I would never vote for a man who wanted his family to move from their Gracie Mansion home, so that his mistress could move in. He went to court to do so and even the NYC courts refused to have them move. So he moved in with Princess Judi when is was a married. Rudy and Princess Judi serve as a reminder that THEIR morals are non-existant and they will kick women and children to the curb as THEY tried to do to Rudy's family. Take that vision with you during the primary elections.

She absolutely went out and flaunted her relationship with the married Giuliani. These two people are not honorable.

And let's not forgot that ol' Rudy in a tape interview stated that he did not committ adultery with Judy because the drugs treating his cancer left him physically unable to do so. Sort of Clinton-ques if you ask me.

CNN just removed the comment I made and posted which was highly critical of the way CNN broadcasts this sort of political trash 'second hand' and by so doing acts as ostensibly 'unwilling accomplices'. That also includes the way they enable terrorists by broadcasting demands made on Al Jazeera. Can't take the criticism?

I do not believe the American people would ever vote for a man like Rudy Giuliani who was so uncaring to his second wife, Donna Hanover, and children. Princess Judith will keep him from the Presidency because American women hate her!

People, we can't bring up Giuliani's pre-911 indiscretions in a post-911 world. Otherwise, the terrorists win. We should forget everything about the man except what he did on that day, and in the days after. (Well, except for sending hazmat workers into Rockerfeller Plaza without hazmat gear so that people would think New York was under some kind of control. Or ignoring warnings about air quality at Ground Zero, or the fact that there's still no real progress in preserving or developing the site after all this time.) It's what his entire campaign is based upon, so nothing else he has ever done should really matter. Shame on Vanity Fair for reminding us what Giuliani stands for.

These bias articles by reporters obviously with their own political agenda making personal attacks against candidates they don't prefer is getting utterly ridiculous. The article is a joke especially after the antics of our former Predident Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy (does anyone remember Chappaquidic?, John F. Kennedy and many others...obviously this reporter is running out of fresh ideas....

What CNN did not mention is the fact that Judi Guiliani killed dogs to sell surgical supplies. That is brutal, and I guess it says a lot about the kind of woman Guiliani likes, one as ruthless as him.

More personal attacks from a bias media being repeatedly reported by another bias media. This is the stark reality of today's politically corrupt CNN team. Shocking, but no longer surprising..

Oh, please. CNN is hardly corrput. They just don't mention the left wives because they're not of questionable character!

Another great contribution from the literary giant that is Vanity Fair!

Excuse me, but does anyone CARE if Giuliani's wife is a "golddigger"?

I personally think it is more relevant to discuss the fact that Hillary Clinton is a manipulative, political opportunist who will stop at nothing to get back to the White House. SOOOO suprised that they have not done a story on THAT!

The Democrat special interests (Firefighters Union, etc.) are going after Giuliani because they know he would be very tough to beat in the general election.

Unfortunately for them, all these attacks are falling on deaf ears.

Yeah – we only elect men who sexual harrass women but conveniently stayed married to for APPEARANCES. As long as Hillary forgave him – it made it A-OK with everyone?? Rudy should be scourged because he "divorced" his wife (GASP).
