Minnesota congressman responds to tragedy

WASHINGTON (CNN) - On the floor of the House of Representatives Wednesday evening, Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minnesota, said he had a “heavy heart” in the wake of the Minneapolis bridge collapse on Wednesday evening.

“We pray for the deceased – for those still in peril – and for their families who have yet to hear from their loved ones,” added Ellison.

Ellison represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District which includes Minneapolis and he referred to Minneapolis as his “home town” during his remarks. Ellison also said he would return to Minneapolis on Thursday to help the city recover.
