Jenna Bush engaged

Jenna Bush and Henry Hager in 2005.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President and Laura Bush's daughter, Jenna, is engaged to be married, the White House announced Thursday.

Jenna Bush, 25, is marrying Henry Hager, 28, a former White House aide who used to work with Karl Rove, and is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Business, according to the Associated Press. Henry Hager’s father, John, is the chairman of the Virginia Republican Party, and the former lieutenant governor of Virginia.

The two met during the 2004 presidential campaign, but were not first spotted together until the president's inauguration in 2005, according to Style Magazine.

The first lady's office tells CNN the proposal occurred last night. The two are currently vacationing together in Maine.

No word if Hager asked the president for permission before the proposal.

No wedding date has been set.

Perfect contrast with the (currently) following story about Biden's son being deployed to Iraq.

Is this really important? So what, she's getting married. I think it would be more important "breaking news" if she put on a uniform and was going to Iraq like so many sons and daughters of America! I bet that would end this war.

Who cares! She is to immature to get married and won't make it to 30 before getting divorced. I am sure it is just a publicity stunt to help soften her father's bad image. This article should be posted in some supermarket tabloid.

Honestly? He looks like a tool, but thats neither here nor there.

CNN had no bussiness posting this, let alone in the political ticker. Seems like you guys just wanted to score some cheap political points from Anti-Bushies..

Tanner–who made you the authority on marrying age, and how long the marriage will last? My god man..

This is breaking news? When i saw breaking news flashing in my inbox, i was curious but once i opened, i was dissappointed.

What this has to do with politics? It is a private business.

I'm very happy for her, the President and the Bush family.

Was this the same boyfriend/fiance' who accompanied Jenna on election night on 11/2/04? She really is a sparkling young lady and it was great that she took time in her father's campaign. It seems that she's gotten good civic experience and probably her and Mr. Hager will both be very involved politically in years to come.

    The next Matalin-Carville maybe?

I find it interesting that so many of you will take your valuable time to dismiss this as non-newsworthy. You must have pretty lame lives. It is as newsworthy as Joe Biden's son is going to Iraq. Mine is also, but I don't see it on the ticker.
