Jenna Bush engaged

Jenna Bush and Henry Hager in 2005.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President and Laura Bush's daughter, Jenna, is engaged to be married, the White House announced Thursday.

Jenna Bush, 25, is marrying Henry Hager, 28, a former White House aide who used to work with Karl Rove, and is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Business, according to the Associated Press. Henry Hager’s father, John, is the chairman of the Virginia Republican Party, and the former lieutenant governor of Virginia.

The two met during the 2004 presidential campaign, but were not first spotted together until the president's inauguration in 2005, according to Style Magazine.

The first lady's office tells CNN the proposal occurred last night. The two are currently vacationing together in Maine.

No word if Hager asked the president for permission before the proposal.

No wedding date has been set.

What a useless piece of information. When she does something important, instead of simply getting married to someone arranged by her father's puppetmaster Rove, then we can hear about it. Like maybe her enrolling in the Army to fight her dad's war?

Being honest, it's news.... just not 'big' news (of course, unless she's pregnant).

An announcement made by the White House that Jenna Bush is going to be married hardly qualifies as "news."
CNN, what are you folks thinking?

Although I personally don't care, I'm not surprised about the headlines. After all, Chelsea Clinton made headlines just for having her first boyfriend when her father was in the White House.

I agree...who really cares? I, too, feel sorry for her. She doesn't look too happy in that picture! Why would she be with anyone who used to work with Rove?????

This is happy news for Jenna! 24 is a great age to be engaged. The comments on this post are so negative. Lighten up. CNN has always had entertainment/odd stories featured on the front page for variation.

I cannot believe that this is "CNN Breaking News." Are you kidding? This was worthy enough to send an email aler to plaster on your homepage ABOVE Pabilla being convicted on terrorism charges. That hasn't even triggered an email alert and hello – he was a TERRORIST!!!

WOO HOO! She is getting married – how is that news? What does that have to do with anything? Why not just call yourseld "Entertainment Tonight" or "Extra" because that is the level of reporting that you are choosing to share with the nation.

Well, done. I guess I was wrong and it a slow news day even with with massive earthquakes, our troops deployed and dying in the middle east, California not having a State Budget, trapped miners, homeless, global warming and the like.

WOW! CNN the crowing jewel of nothing news. You all should be proud.

Who cares what those who don't care think? If it was Chelsea Clinton these same people would be demanding 48 point blinking font in the headline. Shouldn't these liberals be in the front lines of Iraq where they'd actually be useful?

I honestly don't see how CNN of which I am generally a fan, could possibly see that this was breaking news and send out a bulletin on it. Who really cares? Now if she was serving in Iraq or doing some good somewhere, then her engagement might be worth a news note of some sort.
