Bush on Iraq: 'We're kicking ass'

President Bush will give his progress report on Iraq next week, based on information from Gen. David Petraeus.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - When President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq last weekend, he made clear he was pleased with what he saw.

"The security situation is changing," Bush told reporters during the visit. "There's more work to be done. But reconciliation is taking place."

But according to the Sydney Morning Herald of Australia, the president gave a more-to-the-point assessment to Australia Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile.

"We're kicking ass," Bush said to Vaile Tuesday, according the Herald, after the deputy prime minister inquired about his trip to Iraq.

On Thursday, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino would not confirm or deny the reported comment. (Related Video: Jack Cafferty reads your e-mails on Bush's blunt talk)

This isn't the first blunt comment Bush was overheard making to a world leader. At last year's G8 summit, a live microphone picked up the president telling then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair that the United Nations needs to "get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s**t."

Apparently the military leaders disagree. They say we need a gradual troop reduction. This makes me happy because as those of you who watched the Republican debate the other day it makes everyone look like a damn idiot except Ron Paul. Ron Paul 2008!

Bush's comment should be expected. He likes to use "street" clichés to sound tough but really, at this stage, anything he says irrelevant.

What really matters is his misguided 'surge' is getting 20-30 American soldiers killed every week. At this rate we will hit 4000 dead by the end of 2007.

The only ass whose being kicked is Bush himself right out the door of the white house to his pathetic future life in crawford, texas where he will live the rest of his life with the blood of many American soldiers and innocent civilians on his filthy hands while contemplating how he can profit from speeches he hopes to give to any moronic groups of like-minded people who want to hear him revise history to justify his illegal and immoral actions.

I have heard from reliable sources that Hillary Clinton was overheard telling Osama Obama that she plans on baking cookies for the terrorists in the hopes that it will make them nice people.

You people make me sick!!! You just dislike Bush so much it doesn't matter what he says or does anymore... all you want to do is bi***. If it were Clinton that said it, you would be like, "yeah, someone who is down to earth and can be more like the people." All you mindless morons need to stop just watching the news (CNN is one of the worst!) to form all your thoughts and opinions and start to actually use the brain God gave you and come up with views of your own!

I was watching a program yesterday and on it the people were likening the progress of the war in Iraq to the War the Russians tried to wage in Afghanistan. Soldiers are fighting 2-3 times for areas they thought they had won perviously. Open up your eyes people. We arent kicking ANY "ass". It's out asses that are labelled with Boot marks.

What an idiot. Almost as bright as his "crusades" gaffe at the beggining of the war. How about a little humilty and diplomacy? You think this type of rhetoric and language is going to help matters? only serves as additional fuel for the insurgents. Let's get someone in office who can keep his foot out of his mouth. The world is watching.

Ok I am really starting to think Bush is loosing his mind, or just because the army shows him an Apache firing rockets at an old bldg, he thinks the U.S is wining.

WHAT HAS CHANGED in Iraq. People can vote; well yeah but for a non existing non respected govt. Maybe I am wrong in many ways and dont have a definite answer, BUT IN NO WAY can the Iraq situation be described as "We are kicking ass"

    Smoke 'em out.
    Dead or alive.
    Bring 'em on.
    Mission accomplished.
    Stay the course.
    I'm a war president.
    I'm the decider.
Either we'll succeed, or we won't succeed.
    We're kicking ass.

    Is anyone really surprised?

What an absolute and utter MORON!

It amazes me how such an inarticulate and uninformed man was ever elected not only once, but twice, to the highest office in the Country. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised given the level of social consciousness in this Country. Nothing displays this more than when more people are turning out to vote for contestants on “American Karaoke” than in the general elections. That’s embarrassing!

We should be outraged that this presidency is based on smoke and mirrors, hollow catch phrases, photo opts, and lies.

For all you geniuses who continually voted for this buffoon, you are getting what you deserve.

Oh yeah, we’re “Kick’n Ass”, but where is OSAMA. You know that “Gangly Saudi Arabian Dude;” the Guy behind 911? Ring a bell? Apparently you have decided (For Everyone sake) he wasn’t all that important us. Yeah, let’s pander our troops more with your bumper sticker catch phrases, false patriotism, and slogans by giving them false hope that this war was worth fighting; that it wasn’t a waste of time, money and lives. Unfortunately, history will show, yet again, that it was.

Please let there be Karma, sooner than later, on this man!

    Clyde, Valpo, IN,
Are you neo-cons incapable of avoiding non sequiturs? You must be stupid to think that the politics in this country can be explained as a matter of Red or Blue. That is as shallow as a puddle and more worthy of a fifth-grader than a grown up. If someone bashes Bush, he or she must love the Clintons, right? Wrong! Maybe there are people who love the Constitution and love this Republic, and hate what our so-called leaders are doing to destroy them both. Bush is a neo-con, NOT a true conservative. Clinton is a neo-con too, but in a donkey suit. Not a dime's worth of difference. Both reprehensible people. Both reprehensible presidents.

I am SO ashamed he represents the U.S. – I just threw up in my mouth a little when I read this. HOW can this man get away with this? He really believes he can do or say anything he wants.

Have any of you Bush haters ever wondered whether the war would already be over if you would stand up for your country and it's leader and present a unified front to our enemies? A nation united is unstoppable. A nation divided will indeed fail. Or is that what you all are praying for. Sorry, forgot...most of you don't understand what praying is.

This George W. now thinks, speaks, and acts exactly like all Emperors did in the past. Do I miss something? If I do will that a one please enlighten me otherwise? As I can determine America is now completely unhinged from all and everything, the Founding Fathers hopes and dreams were for the nation they in great sacrifice build for America and the world.

I dont know what is worse – Bush's inaccurate assessment of whats going on in Iraq (and poorly chosen words) or the people posting comments on this board supporting the president, as if he's finally telling it like it is. Do you all live in a bubble called Fox News? Earth to bush supporters, we are not kicking anyones ass...hate to break it to you. I suppose you thought we kicked that hurricane named Katrina's ass too huh?
