Bush on Iraq: 'We're kicking ass'

President Bush will give his progress report on Iraq next week, based on information from Gen. David Petraeus.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - When President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq last weekend, he made clear he was pleased with what he saw.

"The security situation is changing," Bush told reporters during the visit. "There's more work to be done. But reconciliation is taking place."

But according to the Sydney Morning Herald of Australia, the president gave a more-to-the-point assessment to Australia Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile.

"We're kicking ass," Bush said to Vaile Tuesday, according the Herald, after the deputy prime minister inquired about his trip to Iraq.

On Thursday, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino would not confirm or deny the reported comment. (Related Video: Jack Cafferty reads your e-mails on Bush's blunt talk)

This isn't the first blunt comment Bush was overheard making to a world leader. At last year's G8 summit, a live microphone picked up the president telling then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair that the United Nations needs to "get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s**t."

Our president. One of the world's top minds and, by far, the greatest linguist mankind has ever known.

As a resident alien living in the US for nearly 9 years, I came through the 2000 election chaos, the WMD hype, the Iraq fiasco, etc.
I could tell from the comments most Americans hate GWB, yet, have you asked yourself the question why you elected him in the first place?
I still admire America because it still has the best system in the world, but it's not perfect. So stop cursing GWB and do something. Don't put another moron in the White House ever again. Americans can't afford it, the world can't afford it.

I love the posters that focus on his words to attempt to rip him up. Yes, cussing (if "ass" is actually a cuss word?) is SO not representative of the average American, am I right? And of course the average American always uses larger words and speaks using perfect grammar and NEVER uses slang, right? Please...

But yes, he's still an idiot...I wish I had my own imaginary universe to live in like he does.

If it is not appropriate to post comments suggesting that Mr. Bush be professional, then what do you consider appropriate ?????

Are you kidding me? Is that what his "intelligence" report tells him? Another senseless comment from our war monger president about this immoral war. Thanks Dubya.

I believe that the president is completely out of touch with any realities other than the one he chooses to (feels compelled to) create. I wonder what his psych profile would read like.

I marvel at those who still support this idiot. We have nearly 4000 of our brave soldiers dead and many times that injured physically and psychologically and Bush talks about us "kicking ass" in Iraq.Nearly 4000 dead and people still making comments about Bill Clinton's extramarital dalliances as if that were equally important to the USA or important at all.Nearly 4000 dead and people still justifying our entering Iraq because of a completely disproved and false linkage of Iraq and 911.Nearly 4000 dead and this moron talking about making money on the lecture circuit after his disaster of a presidency ends. How sad.

Well, who's surprized? What can you expect from the elected leader of a country that was founded on genocide and slavery? The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Right Clyde...guess they are on the front lines of that war along with Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Foley Bob Allen, Ted Klaudt, Ted Haggard, Glenn Murphy, Newt Gingrich. And by the way the Hsu story is on page one of the website...what does that have to do with Bush's incompetence? Seven more troops killed today. Yes, we are really kicking ass.

    To ? Kansas City, MO.
You have the courage to call all of us hypocrites and say we are living the American dream and call us judgemental, but you don't have the courage to let your name be heard. I teach in the inner city and have seen the struggles of these children and families made worse by our wonderful administration. Why don't you come see me and talk to my kids about the American dream. You know what that dream is to them, food everyday, opportunities to better themselves, clothes on their backs. My salary is peanuts compared to many out there, but I share what I have with those families in need so they can have a little brighter tomorrow. Does our administration care about me and my innter city families? Whose dream are you referring to?

Mr. Bush: your statement refers to something that doesn't take 8 years to do. So what exactly are you referring to ??

    RE: Rick, Chicago Illinois.

    You said:

"All you bush-haters are angry because we're actually succeeding? Granted it hasn't been easy but you're constant negativity about Bush makes you look like the idiots!

    Give the President some respect."

We are not succeeding or "Kicking Ass" in Iraq...the only idiots here are our President and the 25% of the people in this country that still blindly follow him and his Iraq policy (or lack there of).

Respect is something that you that's earned...it's not just doled out because you lied, cheated and stole your way into the White House.

Isnt it amazing how quickly people can turn against you if you dont satisfy what they think should be done? Never ceases to amaze me how many people hate Bush for doing the right thing and finishing the job. If our forefathers had given up like many of you want to, you think this nation would exist today? Freedom isnt free.

Maybe we should put someone else in the White House who doesn't use blunt language, perhaps someone who cheats on his wife instead. This is such a non-story.

To everyone here who's posted a negative and arrogant attitude towards Bush... get a life. Fact is, if you took the time to check out the situation on the ground you'd realize our troops are gaining on the insurgents, and things are going relatively better.

Sure, we're not going to wipe out the insurgency in a day or two, or even a year. But as Eisenhower said "A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both."

We're going to lose many lifes and much money, very unfortunately, but if we choose instead to take the easy path, and leave Iraq, we will allow insurgents the opportunity to hit American targets at home instead of in the Middle East.

Gee, sorry Jeff of Williamstown WV, You have been FOOLED by W's "he-man,cowboy act". That makes him a REAL good actor, not a REAL person.
People who tell lies all the time, (like W) aren't real..the lies are creating the image they want us to see rather than their true selves.
People who tell the truth like Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, & Ron Paul get marginalised ignored or raged at. FUnny isn't it. WHY do so many Americans want lies instead of the trruth?

Hey here's an idea support your president, the troops, and the war. Remember you're an American first, everyone else is second. The troops know what they are doing and know the risk. Stop feeling sorry for them, they are doing their jobs. And are proud of it.

Bush's "kicking ass" comment shows just how delusional he is; they should have confined him to an Iraqi insane asylum during his photo op visit there.
