Bush on Iraq: 'We're kicking ass'

President Bush will give his progress report on Iraq next week, based on information from Gen. David Petraeus.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - When President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq last weekend, he made clear he was pleased with what he saw.

"The security situation is changing," Bush told reporters during the visit. "There's more work to be done. But reconciliation is taking place."

But according to the Sydney Morning Herald of Australia, the president gave a more-to-the-point assessment to Australia Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile.

"We're kicking ass," Bush said to Vaile Tuesday, according the Herald, after the deputy prime minister inquired about his trip to Iraq.

On Thursday, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino would not confirm or deny the reported comment. (Related Video: Jack Cafferty reads your e-mails on Bush's blunt talk)

This isn't the first blunt comment Bush was overheard making to a world leader. At last year's G8 summit, a live microphone picked up the president telling then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair that the United Nations needs to "get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s**t."

As the 9/11 anniversary approaches let me remind you of a time when the entire country, better yet the entire world stood behind this stooge and no other president in resent history had so much support. HE WASTED that good will...PLEASE get a reality check and stop drinking the BUSH tea. Our nation is divided because of the doing of W and the present administration. The UNITER turned out to be the divider. We were not all born Bush's his actions and the S#*@ that comes out of this man mouth and "brain" gets the results…. By the way Michael and all of you” BUSH” loyalists you are a minority and you all sound that you been living in a different world. I do not care what you say, people are dying every day and we are not kicking ass. THAT"S REAL...

Oh, B period S period!! One day he's saying "You don't know how many tears I've shed over this war" and now this. This guy can't get out of office fast enough. What a dismal failure. On the other hand this is just about what was expected, more spin control and double speak. If "being right" is an addiction, this guy is hooked. How sickening.

Its amusing to read the comments from so many people about the incompetance of this president. Inspite of that how in the world he and his party got elected in 2004? May be 51% of the people still like his arrogance.

There's a great quote by Jesse Ventura from the movie 'Predator' that comes to mind when reading people's comments on this article. Timely, relevant... unfortunately, not politically correct enough for this website

This coming from people who a few years back put Clinton, who was a chronic womanizer, pathelogical liar, and a draft dodger, in office, and we all know how THAT turned out. And yet they continue to spout their garbage about how horrible a president Bush is. Ironic isn't it?

what gets me is that how CNN makes a big deal about michelle Obama talking about her husband and his snoring but yet refuses to talk about the truth on Iraq and Sept. 11th. Yeah bush may have said we're kicking ass that doesnt surprise anyone. We know how slow our president is. But what ever happened to the truth and what really matters to the American people. Who cares what bush says he's already a lame duck

    Carter Couch,

"I love listening to the liberal whine. Are you traitors getting nervous about the Petraeus Report? You should be considering your hoping for the US to be defeated in Iraq."

The report that the White house is gonna scrub clean and then spin like they did those EPA reports on global warming? Or SELECTIVELY release like those (4 out of 30) pages of the NIE that the press got ahold of last September? Or redact like the attorney firing memos? Or destroy (sorry, "misplace") like those million emails?

LOL .. yeah .. I'll trust a general who knows that if he doesn't tell Dubya what he wants to hear, he'll get ignored, replaced or retired like others before him.

You want me to trust Dubya, who said "I don't believe you can win a war on terror", before he said we WERE "absolutely" winning (in Iraq) up until the Nov 7th elections, which was before his Sec of Defense busted him for lying when he told a congressional committee we WEREN'T winning in Iraq?

Yep ... Dubya just REEKS of credibility doesn't he? LOL

But hey, look at the bright side! At least Dubya didn't fight the upcoming report like he did the 911 commission, or Katrina investigation and he probably wont completely ignore it like he did the multi-volume "Future of Iraq" project commissioned by the State Department before the war, or the Iraq Study Group report that he shelved.

    "Mission Accomplished" "Bring it On"
    and now "We're Kicking Ass".

    Another Assinine Statement by Bush.
    He never learns, does he.

I guess George Bush meant to say that we are getting OUR asses kicked in Iraq. Now this latest phrase will go down in history along with "Mission Accomplished", and "Osama bin Laden – Wanted Dead or Alive", along with too many other idiotic phrases uttered by this president. He really is in denial. This isn't a football game, this is real life and our soldiers are dying every single day, while this fool goes around trying to be macho with our allies. We have kicked Iraq's ass, too. What we have done to a country that never did us any harm is a disgrace, pure and simple.

Meanwhile, the news gets more ominous from Afghistan and Pakistan every day. I guess our president forgot to kick Al Qaeda's ass and bin Laden's too. They must be laughing their heads off at the stupidity of this administration. Bush didn't have the guts to go after bin Laden and fight the real fight, so now we are mired in a mess in Iraq.

This man really has no shame. Does he think he is fooling anybody anymore with this type of pathetic pep rally talk? The one whose ass NEEDS to be kicked is our lame excuse of a president. Just when I think he can't go any lower, he manages to live down to my expectations.

Bush must be out of his mind to make a statement like that!!! I don't see any progress that has been made since the day that the US soldiers went to Iraq!! The only thing that I see daily on the news is the "death /injuries" of our US soldiers and my heart cries daily because of it!!! There has been wars in Iraq since the beginning of time and there will always be wars in their country!!! We have our "own wars" that needs to be fought right here in the US with gang voilence, innocent children being molested and or murdered on a daily basis, Medicaid and health benefits of the sick, elderly, & children being cut, foreclosures galore resulting in people losing their homes, jobs being cut, & and lets not even talk about the drop out rates in schools all over the US!!! Should I go on?!!! The American are getting their butts kick with no help from our President or State leaders!!!! Where are our progams and funding Bush?!!! Bush can't run his own country and he sure as hell isn't fairing to well in Iraq either by trying to run their country!!! Bush needs to stop funding that war that was brought on by "lies and deceit" from the beginning and bring ALL of what's left of our soldiers HOME, ASAP!!!!!

What is wrong with being blunt. I don't always agree with The president's decisions but being blunt is easy to understand and hard to misinterpret. Take for instance past great Americans Patton, Truman and many others. We have Become soft and WAY to politically correct. Ask Great Britain where we are headed with all that. I say follow the Assie philosophy. Get to the point and do it If it is good for the majority it's to hell with the rest. I'm not a child I can handle the truth, don't sugar coat it, if I think your wrong I don't need to sue you for saying it. I'll just think your an idiot and move on. Grow up America quit being sheep.
