Clinton: I am not a lesbian

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sen. Hillary Clinton's sexuality is not the most pressing issue on the presidential campaign trail, but it is likely to get a fair amount of attention on a lazy Friday in the nation’s capital.

The Advocate asked Clinton about past rumors that she is gay.

The New York Democrat tells “The Advocate” that she is not a lesbian, according to a story in Friday’s edition of The New York Daily News.

"It's not true, but it is something that I have no control over," Clinton tells the magazine in a story set for publication next week.

“People will say what they want to say," she added.

The comments came in response to a question posed by Sean Kennedy, an editor of the Advocate: "How do you respond to the occasional rumor that you're a lesbian?"

Kennedy tells CNN he asked Clinton about the rumors because "they are a point of solidarity between her and the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community."

"Because her political opponents, and others, have used the word 'lesbian' to hurt her personally and politically, she knows first hand the stigma associated with homosexuality just as gay people do," Kennedy said. "She did not seem surprised by the question in the least and responded like the experienced politician she is."

The interview was conducted immediately after last month's Human Rights Campaign presidential forum.

UPDATE: The Advocate has published the full article on its Web site

aaahahahahaha. SUUUURE. lol. First of all. She's a democrat, so who cares, they're all cool with that. Besides, she's legally married and the republicans would not allow that if she was gay. Third of all, she love's men so much that when they betray her publically by i dunno, cheating on her with interns, she is willing to go right back to men, especially ones that disgrace her reputation. besides, its not like the only reason she stayed with Bill is to further her political career. its cause she loves straight sex with the big man. thats all there is to it.

The Advocate has just 'one-upped' Move On.Org for sheer stupidity. As much as I do not like the woman, that particular charge is just plain lucicrous.

When Bill first came to office, she was ambivalent about her sexuality. This and her husband's "brave" stance in pushing the "don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military seem to have won them the eternal adoration and support of many within the gay community. I guess it just doesn't take a lot to please some people.

Wow, Im amazed Hiliary would take the chance of offending gay voters. But she has nothing really political to do but defend herself against the people she claims to support.

This picture just begs for a tasteless comment, but I wont.

CNN, please do us a favor anddelete this story and not give it any more traction than it truly deserves.

This will only solicit bogus hateful comments.

Or, is that what you're looking for? Take the focus off of substantive issues and pull us all into the gutter.

What Republican media machine? Oh, you mean the most watched news network on television, yeah, they started this rumor.

Just another ploy by her and her political machine, "I will say this out of the blue and MAYBE one of my opponents will make light of it via a joke and I and the MSM can then pounce all over it and I can get the gay folks on my side".

With many denials, there is an ounce of truth. Don't care either way.

For the record Clintonista's, she is AGAINST gay marriage.

I know that the majority of the country is now opposed to the war and many use that as a rallying cry for getting out, quick question, since many people in the 45 STATES that were allowed to also voice their opinion on gay marriage OVERWHELMINGLY are against that as well, can we then take that as the reason for NOT allowing gay marriage?

    Discuss amongst yourselves.

BUT has she denied being an eight-foot-tall Watusi tribesman with extensive tattoos and facial scarification? Well, has she? How are we to know if THOSE rumors are true unless she specifically denies them? And what about the story in the National Inquirer that said she had Elvis' Alien Love Child? When will she address that?

I know I don't have to read this blog, but I'm aware that other people do, and they should be aware that this is not real news.

What next, do you plan on republishing excerpts of an article in World News Weekly?

The only people that say Hillary is gay are the males that think she has more drive and ability than they do. They just can't handle the fact that she is very capable and a woman.

Who cares and why would you wish anymore grief on lesbians than they already have. She too mean to be a lesbian. She cares more about power than people and would make a terrible lesbian. I know lesbians and she's no lesbian.

ALL Presidential Candidates,Dem.,Rep.,& Ind. should publicly proclaim their sexual preferance. P.S.– Hook up Rudy G. to a lie detector machine when he submits his response. And they should all announce their favorite NFL Team while they're at it.
