The Situation Room gets Kinky

Kinky Friedman says he's not a politician.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Author Kinky Friedman was in CNN's Situation Room Friday.  He spoke with Wolf Blitzer about his new book, his previous run for governor of Texas, the 2008 presidential candidates, illegal immigration, and cigars. Watch the interview and spend a little time with Kinky.

What a buffoon! We had to put up with him in the last gubernatoral election here. Great with soundbites, short on real answers or solutions. In other words, the PERFECT candidate.

I do enjoy the Situation Room, but why would Wolf want to put this man on? I have never even heard of him and I certainly would not want to read his book. He should keep his opinions to himself.

I voted for Kinky, though it never occurred to me that he could win or that I even wanted him to be governor. I had two reasons.

First, it was obvious from the start that Rick Perry had the election sewn up and that my vote would have no impact on the outcome. In such situations, I usually find a 3d party candidate with something novel and worthwhile to consider and vote for them. The same person gets elected, but perhaps my support of a third cause will draw more attention to a third view.

Second, Kinky Friedman offered this comment regarding his lack of political experience. He said, "George W. Bush was governor of Texas. How hard can it be?" I was blown away by the force of his logic.

I don't know about the rest of his ideas, but his idea on how to end illegal immigration is brilliant. Seriously that actually would work, sign this into law tomorrow.
