Obama: GOP doesn't own faith and values

Obama told an evangelical church in South Carolina: "I am confident we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth."

GREENVILLE, South Carolina (CNN) - After speaking to an evangelical church on Sunday in this traditionally conservative South Carolina city, Sen. Barack Obama said that Republicans no longer have a firm grip on religion in political discourse.

"I think its important particularly for those of us in the Democratic Party to not cede values and faith to any one party," Obama told reporters outside the Redemption World Outreach Center where he attended services.

"I think that what you're seeing is a breaking down of the sharp divisions that existed maybe during the nineties, when at least in politics the perception was that the Democrats were fearful of talking about faith, and on the other hand you had the Republicans who had a particular brand of faith that often times seemed intolerant or pushed people away," he said.

Please, please take the evangelicals out of the GOP so normal, reasoning, libertarian leaning Republicans don't have to be so embarrassed of our party. Besides, the fundamentalists who keep complaining about being ostracized would be happier as Democrats...namely, they are professional whiners who want government intervention to stop perceived discrimination and shove their social engineering and twisted dogma on everyone else, regardless of choice...sure sounds like a Democrat to me! Please Obama, take them with you, so the Republican party can go back to being the party of "My life is none of your business; your life is not my fault"

    This is absurd.

Politicians on the Left have been trying to run God out on a rail and now, 15 months before the Presidential election, they're kissing His bottom.

    What frauds and hypocrites.

Roy said " The BIBLE says the SIN of Homosexuality is a REPROBATE SIN… a person who is rejected by God and beyond hope of salvation"
Roy, that is not true. While the Bible teaches homosexual acts are wrong, nowhere can I find that it is unforgiveable. True Repentance and Faith in Jesus Christ, who was God's sacrifice for sins, will lead to salvation / forgivness.

That's right. The GOP does not own faith or values, however they are more likely to practice them......

I didn't actually read the article, but I'm pretty sure the "Kingdom" he's talking about is Disney World. Possibly Disney Land.

So, does this mean that Obama is pro-life? He can't preach Christian values without including innocent children as created in God's image and worthy of our protection.

Yadda, yadda, yadda. Boy, you guys really disect what he is saying rather than looking at the root cause. His campaign movement runs on a series of mottos. This time he took the issue that he is a uniter and converted it into "Christian language." Stop throwing words in his mouth by introducing external ideas and acknowledge his intent.

Most of you forget (or don't do enough research to know what the real truth is) that (A) he grew up Muslim, and (B) He attends a United Church of Christ whose website and Pastor embrace radical "black only" racial views. The church eventually took all that off the website after getting caught. When are christians (ie. Obama and his church) gonna wake up and support racial unity. Aren't "all men created equal", especially since God created ONE BLOOD (Genesis). Too many factors just do NOT add up with Mr. O. And there is still the "campaigning in a not for profit church", too. Ain't that ILLEGAL? Oh.... Since the Left want the non-existant "church-state separation", how is it that a US Senator is speaking in a church service? Ain't that convenient... Only when they want it to happen.... shame shame silly liberals.... GOD owns the cattle on a 1000 hills, not the Liberal Left, NOR the Federal Government. Let the Churches be benevolent and stop the Lazy-enabling handouts!!!

    God bless you!

Listen up, religious people! The Founding Fathers established the Constitution to clearly separates church and state. It is absolutely disgusting that God is brought up so frequently on both sides of the political spectrum to justify political positions. LEAVE GOD OUT OF THE DEBATE, CONCENTRATE ON THE ISSUES!

How can Obama talk about faith and God when he is stealing the American peoples money by taking donations to run for president when he know he can't win?The same goes for Edwards.

Obama is a lying seething serpentine servant of the devil. He is a member of the Council On Foreign Relations which seeks to overthrow our republic an merge us into a one-world government! So when he says KINGDOM on earth he means STANS KINGDOM, NOT GODS!

The Kingdom of God is already here. It is now. It is ruled by the Lord and King Jesus Christ. There is no kingdom but His. "Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" Any Christian with a modicum of Bible knowledge knows this. Apparently Mr. Obama sees it differently.

His comments on Kingdom on earth: he is a tool of the international banking new world order, and his comments and inclusions mean all religons BUT monotheistic ones. Church with a rock band and dancers? LOL

have no doubt the god he is talking about is Lucifer, and his new world order ruled by anti-christ.

I suggest everyone here read the book Lucifer's children and find out what is really going on

The "Kingdom" that Barak "Hussein" Obama mentions has already been established by God Almighty. It's called the "Church" and has been in God's plan since the beginning.
Study Old Testament from Daniel to the New Testament.
The "Kingdom" Is Christ's Church, the Bride of Christ, He died for it, and it is not a kingdom started by man.

Study your Bible. If you don't believe in the Bible, then vote Democrat! Same difference.
