Coulter: We want 'Jews to be perfected'

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.

Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004

"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)

When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."

Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"

"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."

"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”

"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."

Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."

"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."

Deutsch said he was personally offended.

"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."

Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.

"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."

Her views on Jews, Christians, etc are irrelevant and she merely noted the Old Testament was filled with the God of wrath and punishment and the New Testament one of hope, love and charity....The Old was presented to the Jews, the New for Christians and she is just saying it is an evolutionary process, Jews "perfected" is merely a polically referenced way of noting the fact that Jesus was Jewish and his death created Christianity (a perfect Jew, as it were-Jesus). She is wrong on one thing, Jesus is considered an important prophet to Islam, not JEWS. Read Christopher Hitchens book "God is NOT Great" and you will also realize the greatest horrors commited in the world have been done in the name of "GOD". I was raised a Catholic and soon realized that no one has a claim on heaven, those are all "rules of the churches or religions" and MADE UP MY MEN. People don't understand the caustic nature of Ann Coulter in her irreverant comments on religion. Organized religion is anything but perfect! my own religious belief is that my creator and I have a special unique relationship, he/she "talks" to me, I try to listen, but argue my case too, and ask for clarification of my purpose in life....God has been good to me and revealed to me the selfishness of my behavior and the arrogance of demanding answers. Live a life of doing the best you can, always do the right thing (and we all really do know what is right and wrong), and forgive those who fail in this, including yourself.....and you will perfect your own salvation. God bless all of you, whether you understand her or not. I know how she thinks, kinda like I do.

G-d, in his infinite mercy, I believe, has a place in heaven for Ann and her Republican admirers, albeit a non-prominent one.
Forgive her o Lord for she knweth not what she does.

Listen to yourself. You sounds as fanatic as a Muslim terrorist. I hate hearing Christian and Protestants mentioning Jesus for everything, but none of you live to reach his expectations... example? Iraq War perhaps. A Christian nation sending young kids to a slaughter while the armament and oil industry makes billions. At the end of his term the President and Vice President will be the richest man in the world.

2740 comments?! The comments by this "queinte" must have set a new record. (Look up the new word in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. It appears as a footnote in the two-volume Oxford Collection of English lit.)

The bulk of the responses by self-professing Christians illustrates the prophetic word of Scripture, "When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" It appears that most of those who profess to be Christian have not the slightest clue to the exclusive claims of Jesus as the *only* Savior of man. There is no other way to the thrice-holy God of heaven!

Apparently Ann Coulter needs to convince herself that what she has to say is very important and relevent.
Of course it's not. She is an egomaniac who should not be taken seriously.

She is one dumb broad, we all know that (except for the right/neo-cons). But nothing, I mean, nothing she says keeps me from wanting to do her anal. She would be sweat drenched and wimpering for more.

Ann Coulter is not a conservative nor a Christian nor even very bright. She is just a sad case of somebody wanting to be in the limelight and thinks it will put her into the history books. I suspect that if enough research was done, someone might find some interesting facts about her that might shock us. I do not think she is everything she claims to be. As we have seen lately, many claim to be something while being something else. I think she is either a fake or a really ditsy, fake blond that makes other real blonds out to be ignorant and self serving. She also makes Christians look that way too. And I know many Christians whom are not self-righteous nor think they are above every other religions / beliefs. And I do not think she is even practicing what Christ set out do. And that is be tolerant and caring. Read the Bible a little more closely as well as other religious or spiritual documents. I find it interesting that she quotes or misuses things the same way she accuses others of doing. She thinks too highly of herself and I think that she needs to learn humility. We are supposed to learn from our sins not keep repeating them and to try and better ourselves That is why we continue in 'Warring' rather than 'Sharing'. "Create in me a clean heart o God". Think about.

Luke 12: 41-59 sums it up rather nicely. Not my words. Not Ann Coulter's. Christ's words. Believe it or not.

41 ¶ Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
    45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
49 ¶ I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
54 ¶ And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58 ¶ When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.

Until people get bored/disgusted with the likes of Anne Coulter, Britney, Paris, Lindsey, etc. they will continue to get coverage on national media outlets. Certainly there is a car wreck fascination with these characters and people feel sorry for/superior to them, but the state of the world requires adults to focus on the important issues of the day. Turn off anything that promotes these people and let's raise the quality of life for ourselves, our families and the world. I for one, believe that is worth my limited time and energy.

Shame on you Ann, you just set the Republican Party back into the dark ages. Every christian I know, just got the shivers from your comments. What a waste of an education. Your edgy attitude pushes all good people no matter what they're religion, to a place that looks and smells like the over used ovens of Nazi Germany.

Last week she had me rolling on the floor when she stated the country went down hill once women got the vote and didn't think they should be allowed to vote now – except herself, I presume! Now this. Her ubsurdity keeps cracking me up, yet I sadly know there are many that believe just as she does. That's why she's a millionaire. I was hoping SNL would have the Ann Coulter parody last week, now I'm sure to see one this week.

It has been about 24 hours since this story "broke."

Since Ann Coulter is a conservative commentator, it is only fair to ask the question, "How many Republican presidential candidates have denounced Ann Coulter's statement or distanced themselves from her stance on this issue?"

What does that say about the GOP's values and politics?

Anne Coulter has just made a major theological error. Scripture makes no distinction between Jews and Christians. As a matter a fact, Christians are called spiritual Jews. The New Testament clearly states that it is only through the the grace of Jesus Christ that all people are saved, jews and Gentiles. As a matter a fact scripture testifies that no man is saved by the law but only through the Grace of Jesus Christ. Anne Coulter's statement is unbiblical and a major compromise of truth, displaying either a gross lack of knowledge of scripture, or a malicious compromise of Christian Values.

Anne Coulter's Comments characterize the lies told by religious rightist seeking political power where there should be none. Christianity is a matter of the heart and goverment cannot effectively legislate its morals and teachings without destroying its integrity and truth.

If this is a publicity stunt then it is a pathetic way to do it, however, if she believes in what she says then - it is proof that some educated people can be totally out of sync.
