Coulter: We want 'Jews to be perfected'
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."

As a Christian, I cannot tolerate statements such as these. She clearly has no understanding of Jesus and His teachings. Disgusting.
What an absolutely ignorant, arrogant and close-minded comment to make. Unfortunately, Ann's view isn't really uncommon among Christians.

You religious zealots are all freaks!! Your cosmic "Daddy" is no more real than the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, or the stupid Tooth Fairy! If you were born in India, you'd all be saying that Hindu is the only true religion. It's totally arbitrary. It was an authoritarian construct used to manipulate the masses to stop killing each other and start killing everyone else. Why do you continue to invite her on your shows when you could take any idiot off the street and pay them far less money to give an uneducated opinion about these topics. I personally change the channel when I see her face,and I am sure others do the same, so I don't think she is boosting ratings enough to make it worth Donny's time and energy. I feel sorry for the fact that he had to endure her very presence.
In any other educated and civililzed country in the world the likes of Ann coulter would be objects of ridicule for a little while and then would be ignored. Only in America can someone make a carrer out by making absurd, bigoted, racist and generally over the top right wing statements. That she is actually embraced by one of the two political parties says more about them than it does her. If only the general American population was not so ignorant that scaring them and pandering to their ignorance and bigotry are the most effective tools available to a politician.
Laugh at Ann. That will make her go away, meanwhile, she is laughing all the way to the bank. I don't beleive even she believes one tenth of what she says.

Why have over 2500 people posted here? Is it because most people actually don't support the First Amendment, and the right to free speech?
Many Christians accept the ancient idea that Jesus's message was rejected by the Jews, so God offered his message intead to the Gentiles. The Jews therefore lost their status as God's special chosen race, and the members of the Christian (meaning Catholic) Church assumed that status. This makes the Jews look bad from a Christian perspective. Many of us heard this in Sunday School if we were there.
On the other hand, surveys show that there are a lot of Christians who believe that most anybody can go to Heaven if he or she is a good person and lives a good life, regardless of his or her religion.
Surveys also show that 20% of Christians believe in reincarnation, which gets some mention in the Bible ("Who do the people say that I am?"
They answered and said, "John the Baptist, and others say Elijah; but others, that one of the prophets of old has risen again."). Reincarnation, however, is something that 80% of Christians do not believe in.
So, let us not quibble chapter and verse. No two Christians can agree on the meaning of any single verse in the Bible.
Ann Coulter, letting her mouth run ahead of her brain, perhaps, in her need for a sound bite that would get her some attention, suggested that Jews will go to hell unless they become Christians. Well, a lot of Christians believe that and a lot don't.
Many people in every religion believe that all other religions are in error and have no value. Humans have been killing people of different faiths for a long time, but those who believe in Moses (Jews, Christians, Muslims) seem to kill each other more frequently and with more enthusiasm than, say, Wiccans or Scientologists.
Those who are just now discovering this, and are in a swoon about it, need to suck it up and get real. It is how we are as a species, apparently.
As for Ann, I think she's cute myself. She has cut out a role for herself as the bad girl of politics. We must forgive her for letting her tongue run away with her every now and then. We all say stupid things.
Ok,... Let me get this straight... If I am reading this correctly... She is saying Jews have to follow the rules... but Christians dont. To quote her correctly...."Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."... So does that mean Christians do not have to live by the ten commandments..... If that is the case.. maybe that is why the Jails are over crowded in America... because they believe the same way She does... Since they are christians they dont have to follow the rules... Yesh.. ... I understand she has the rights to say what she wants... but does she not understand that she also has to suffer the consquense of her actions.. i.e. What passes your lips today.. may burn you tuckus tomorrow.
Can we just stop reporting what she says? She's not newsworthy and is no better than KKK or other extremists.

Confabulation is a condition of Alcoholism when you believe your own lies. This is something to be looked at with AC. Would one of Ann's loved ones please see how demented this woman is and find some help for her. She really does not have a very sympathtic following, so I think her only hope is from those in her inner circle.
If she cannot quite her demoms then please someone have the courage to quite her.

A month ago 12 New Jersey DEMOCRATS were nailed in a citywide scandal, no ticker mention.
Again in New Jersey, the Democratic Mayor of A/C takes 2 weeks or so off, shows up and resigns in scandal and again not on the political ticker.

I certainly respect everyone's right to their opinion who has posted on this particular blog. And I bet if Ann copied this blog and made a book out of it and took out all the comments of the people that know she's crazy, she'd have about a page and a half left of the other crazies who support her. I honestly feel many of us have missed the major issue with “Ann's controversy”. It does not matter really if Ann's reasons are sound or unsound. It is the fault of the interviewer ("reporter") for interjecting HIS personal biases and insecurities into this interview. Honestly, who really cares if she feels her religion is correct. Do not all of us have opinions? Do we, when expressing our opinions, automatically call someone prejudiced or hateful when our opinion differs from the opinion of someone else? Is it rational to revert to name calling and hurling insults because we disagree with the thoughts of one person’s personal views when asked about them? I did not read anywhere in the interview she hated any particular group. I did not read she wanted to kick anybody out of the country. Religion is, in itself, divisive. However, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and many more have proved the ability to peacefully coexist and yet remain different and distinct. Maybe we should be look more closely at Mr. Donny Deutsch's record and HIS personal motives? Just a thought on tolerance.
