Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
How can she say the Republicans, and she of all Republicans, are tolerant? And with a straight face?
Looks like Columbia just found its next guest speaker.
If we wouldn't comment maybe she would just dry up and blow away. Plain and simple, she makes a living making people mad. Because she has no tallent or ability to do anything else.
why do jews cry when people talk about them?
Christ was born a JEW -lived his life as a JEW and died as a JEW
Yeah, Ann, but Jesus was no Christian. He was born from a jewish mother, had a bris, was Bar Mitzvah and even a Rabbi. Nowhere does it say that he *converted* to *christianity*, which did not even exist at the time. Jesus said, not a jot or tittle of the law shall pass, that is Torah, until all is fulfilled. Jesus also did NOT say I will forgive you, so go right ahead, and be sinners. Now, but Paul, Paul, he did say a few things. So, who does the longhaired girl believe? Jesus, or Paul? Appears to me that socalled *christians* are really *paulians*. But, what do I know, I am busy trying to be perfect. Takes all my time, and then some.
Why does anyone listen to what Ann Coulter says? Ms. Coulter is irrelevant and does not represent either any politically correct stance, nor deeply held conviction within this nation
CNN should pay less attention to her as also the rest of as the world.
Thanks
Jason L.
::rolleyes::
Yes shes intolerant! Let us all go on blabbing about how 'intolerant' she is, and NOT tolerate her! How silly.
Christians are spiritual Jews not 'perfected' Jews. Although Ann might have been on to something if Christians have a consistent theology [not Rick Warren, Joel Osteen Christian 'lovism'] then yes we would have a better America, and a better world.
I don't see why its so 'offensive' for someone to suggest to someone else to convert. Matter of fact he should...so?
Ann Coulter has proven herself, time and time again, to be near worthless as an intellectual, and sadly, as a human being.
Oh to live in a country where everyone is the same religion, and those that are not get....converted! If that is what she truly desires, I hope she finds such a place quickly, and goes there to live. As I understand it, we tolerate all religions here, and our country endorses none. That is part of the basis for the founding of this country. We also tolerate all manner of idiocy, leaving room for those, such as Ms. Counter, who openly espouse beliefs that are counter to our national values. Can we please read more on CNN from those people of intelligence that don't promote this sort of extremist ideology? Ms. Coulter should find plenty of room on the tabloids at the supermarket along with the alien abduction sagas. Unless, of course, she is herself abducted. Anyone know of a Martian PAC soliciting donations?
why do we bother with idiots like this. you know she does this for publicity to sell her books. I liken her to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton for the Political segment – hollow pr seeking idiots. wow ann coulter=paris hilton ha.
Ms. Coulter is certainly educated, but higher education doesn't always equal good judgement. She's an excellent writer with a knack for pushing people's buttons and attracting media attention. Although I disagree with nearly every single thing that comes out of her mouth, I've still read two of her books because I believe in keeping your enemies even closer than your friends. I hope I'm not alone in remembering that every person in this country has the right to express their own opinions - no matter how ignorant, hateful or offensive.
Why is this woman continually given a stage?
Most Christians have very little concept of what Judaism is, other than what their Christian clergy have told them. The view of humankind, the world, and the Almighty are vastly different. Interestingly enough, Jews believe there is a place in the world to come for all good people and that one does not have to be Jewish to get there.
P.S. Jon of Sacramento, Jesus plays NO part in Judaism, not a prophet. Nothing.
Anne simply says what she believes and that is that liberals are godless wretches that would bow to any religion other than there own..that is if liberals actually had a religion....Keep up the good work Anne.
I love the way Christians can say what they like then say thats not what they meant. Must come from years of practice ignoring parts of the Bible they dont like.
It is not surprising that Coulter's idea of "tolerance" is actually an insidious intolerance of all those who aren't Christian. While she says, “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America"–i.e. tolerance if and only if they agree with our values. This is doublespeak.
Jews don't believe Jesus was a prophet. I think it's good Ann is up front...good for her. Now we Jews know the real score.
At first you think the republicans would feel the need to distance themselves from this hate filled woman, but then – they don't.
What does that tell you?
Why does this woman still get airtime? I'm all for free speech, but this is the same moron who babbled on about Bill Clinton being gay and the Canadians fighting in Vietnam. She's a ridiculous idiot, and loves the spotlight as much as Paris and Britney, but instead of flashing her nether regions she invents "outrageous" things to say.
The networks should be ashamed they give her the time of day–why not just start having KKK members host the Today show?
If Ann feels like that about Jews, then I guess as a Wiccan I'm screwed! Did I hear someone say Inquisition?
I belive she believes exactly what she spouted. The woman is an airhead who has somehow gained credibility with the media as some sort of spokesperson for the right. She doesn't speak for the right, she speaks for her own "I need to promote me" agenda. She is an idiot that needs to be ignored... why does anybody care what she thinks about anything? Can anybody tell me what she has ever done to improve anything? I've been a Republican longer than she has been alive and I find her to be completely shallow. And yes I've read her writings and find them to be on the intellectual order of something I would expect from a Junior High School government class.
Why is it so wrong for somebody to express their opinions and beliefs...especially when they are (God forbid!) Christians. If it were another religion and somebody promoted their faith, nobody would attack...the bible does warn of days like these, when we will be hated for our faith in Christ.
She holds the belief that all should come to faith in Christ, just like Muslims believe all should come to Allah...doesn't mean that there is going to be enforcement.
Ann Coulter is the Paris Hilton of the Republican party. Only she is much more pathetic.
"Perfected...Perschmecked, what's the difference?"
