Coulter: We want 'Jews to be perfected'
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."

People talking like that is the reason for half the problems going on right now. All I can say is she is a moron.
As for the expected correlation between education and heightened tolerance (or lack of stupidity), please recall that Hitler's Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels, had a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg (1921).
Another fine example of how members of this Party show their true level of intelligence. What ever happened to Love Thy Neighbor, tollerance, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom from oppression? Don't mind me, I'm just a Catholic (Oh – isn't that Christian too?), Democrat from New York State without a four year degree.

I am a black (sometimes liberal) democrat. I could not care less about Coulter or her antics, but seriously what was Deutsch going for? She is a christian with commensurate beliefs about other religions. The same can be said for any religion. Of course, she said it with her peculiar brand of conservative crassness and insensitivity but still, what would Deutsch himself say about muslims – that they are going to heaven?? (And what would they say about jews??) Insensitive, yes (whats new). Anti-semitic? I Disagree.

Playing the devil's advocate here (FTR: I am Jewish, and a Democrat), I am not sure that what Coulter said was that off-base. Sure, she's incoherent, and probably a little misguided. But as an Orthodox Jew, I think that a lot of the world would be better off if they were Jewish. I wouldn't force it on them, I probably wouldn't even try to proselytize. That's the difference, though. What I'm trying to say that it takes all kinds, and if people want to make statements like that, we should focus the inward to better ourselves, rather than spouting irreverent criticism. This is still a person, and she does not deserve the stuff she gets. Interpret that how you want.
Ann Coulter: YOU GO GIRL! Christians are, in fact, biblical Jews, the adopted children through Jesus, THE Messiah, foretold - the OT points to the NT. She told Deutsch in quite a loving way. Again, YOU GO GIRL!
How is it that anyone takes this woman seriously?
Let's be frank about this. Ann Coulter is simply a weak comedian trying to disguise herself as an extremist conservative so she can make outrageous comments, grab some headlines, and sell some books. And, oh yes, don't forget the speaking engagements... so much easier and more lucrative than actually working for a living. What's her plan for world peace? Maybe giving China a taste of the big nuke? Ann Coulter would contribute more to society if she would just shut up and get a real job, like maybe driving a cab. She used to be funny, but now she's just irritating.
Coulter's education is no defense against deep-rooted prejudice. She feels that her religion is the one "right" religion, and that everyone else's religion is benighted. Unfortunately, many Christian churches teach their followers to believe exactly as Coulter does, even though it is a perversion of what Jesus believed. I think we should stop covering her anti-Semitism. Don't give her the air time. She doesn't deserve it. Let her masturbate in the dark, like the other pervs.
Unfortunately, some people believe they should push their own religious beliefs on the rest of us. Reminds me of a certain dispute in the Middle East where Al-Qaeda says they will stop attacks on Americans if we all convert to Islam. It saddens me that people hide behind a religion instead of working out their differences. An enlightened society we are not.
I just watched the Blitzer segment with Carville and the Republican. There is nothing to discern from Coulter's comments – they are what they are. She loves to speak for the Republican party agenda, so it seems that all Republicans were just thrown into the anti-Semite pool. Thanks Ann.

Ann Coulter ought to be yanked off the air just like Don Imus was. She ought to be shunned by the media and just plain shut down. Her comments today are some of the most vile and offensive I've ever heard in my entire life. She's just trying to sell her silly book. Don't buy her book, don't watch her, just ignore her.
What is this total BS about Jews believing that Jesus is "a prophet but not a savior?" Get the facts straight, Jews DO NOT believe that Jesus was in any way a prophet. Jews still wait for the prophet Elijah. All, if you're going to speak about religion, take the time to learn about it first.
Christianity teaches tolerance, so it's too bad she hasn't learned anything worthwhile from her own religion.
Ann Coulter is a sensationalist who uses pop music tactics to flourish and sell books. She says very controversial things in public forums without any sense of tact or sensitivity. I'm glad she's so pleased with herself, but she would be a very dangerous President. What is she like when she's pre-menstrual? Yikes. Is she bipolar?
Note to Ms. Coulter: Being 'tolerant' means showing respect to people who are unlike you. Not trying to convert them because they are "imperfect."
