Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
Ann Coulter & Jesus Christ. There's something wrong with those two names in the same sentence. READ the Four Gospels & see the total disconnect between the words of Jesus & the words of Ms. C.
I love how Mr. Deutsch was so "shocked" to hear these words from Coulter's mouth. Explain this to me: you bring on a rabid lunatic, and then you're shocked when she says something looney? Please. Mr. Deutsch, don't feign shock when you're the one responsible for her being on the air.
I think she means what she says. I am a Christian, and I agree with pretty much everything she said. 🙂
Donny Deutsch should've given it right back to her and said he wanted women perfected . . . with the addition of logic, reason, and accountability.
If Ms. Coulter is representative of what it means to be "perfected" then I, as a Jew, need not say a thing to indict her; she does it on her own. Surely, there are any number of more appropriate adjectives to describe her.
Ann is an idiot jock no different than Stern. All people should just laugh at her. She is kind of funny looking, perhaps she is a man?
Just more mindless drivel from a mindless twit. Its so obvious she's just in this for the attention.... What a shallow, sad person she is. She should have received therapy looooong ago.
She's crazy...thank god I'm Jewish...I'd be so ashamed to have her as a representative of my religion...
and they lynched Imus?
She's a nutjob.
It's times like this that I would gladly give up "freedom of speech". This lady(and I use the most broadest sense of the word)is nothing but a racist who wraps herself in the constitution.
Im personally offended, as a Christian, to be misrepresented like that. I completely disagree and I find it sad that she believes she is perfect. There was only ever one perfect person on earth, and that was Jesus. The best description of her comments that I can come up with is blasphemy.
There's very little difference between her and Al Quida.
She wants everyone to be Christian, they want everyone to be Muslim.
As for me I have nothing but contempt for this "my God is better than your God" pissing contest. Jesus himself would have nothing to do with this.
Another term for "perfected Jew" is "completed Jew," a person who has accepted Christ as the Messiah. I assume this is what the speaker was referring to. I agree that if we all could accept Christ as the Messiah that the world would be a better place. Of course, CNN, given it's liberal bias, would not be able to entertain this premise. However, if in fact, the entire Bible was taken to heart, we would see that the Old Testament is fulfilled by the New Testament. Hence, the term "completed Jew."
First, She should be cut off from all media outlets for spouting hate, ignorance and stupidity, shock-jock or not.
Second, Jon, I don't know where you studied comparative religion, but no major branch of Judaism considers Jesus a prophet. Even vague references to him in post-biblical texts are questionable. Hence the Christian need for a New Testament, because the Old Testament, including all those who Jews consider prophets had been sealed in the cannon. And in Judaism there are no prophets beyond the Bible.
why does the press pay attention to this crazy witch?
First off this is old news, it was on Howard Stern a while ago. Second, calling her a shock jock as someone else did is a joke. All that she does is spew something to get people going, and of course doesn't have anything to back it up.
The best part about this is she tries to pull herself off as the hot conservative... maybe to the over 55 crowd but thats it.
WHAT AN IGNORANT, IGNORANT WOMAN. SINCE SHE DOESN'T GET IT, THEN LET HER HOME BE THE FIRST DOOR THAT IS KICKED DOWN WHEN THE MUSLIMS PUT A GUN TO HER HEAD AND SAY "CONVERT OR DIE!"
THE SAD THING IS THAT MANY CHRISTIANS DON'T REALIZE THAT THE JEWISH RELIGION, WHICH IS BASED ON THE OLD TESTAMENT, HAS THE CLOSEST MORAL FIBERS TO THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION. WE ALL HAVE THE SAME VALUES EVEN IF OUR HOLIDAYS DON'T COINCIDE. OUR LOVE FOR FAMILY IS THE BASIS OF BOTH RELIGIONS. MAYBE SHE DOESN'T KNOW THAT SHE IS PRAYING TO JESUS, WHO LIVED AND DIED A JEW.
NOWHERE, EVEN IN THE MOST RADICAL FRINGES OF EITHER RELIGION, DO WE MENTION JIHAD. FOR THIS REASON ALONE MS COULTER SHOULD CEASE AND DESIST HER INSENSITIVE ANTISEMETIC COMMENTS; OR BE THE FIRST TO PAY THE PRICE.
As a Christian and a conservative, I am sick and tired of these "commentators and pundits" like Ms. Coulter and her ilk hijacking true conservative beliefs for their own financial gain. They're not conservatives or Christains, they're simply greedy, little hate-mongers.
Hitler had the exact same thoughts. Hrmmmmmmmm. Heil......
Someone please explain to me why this unhinged tranny keeps getting national press.
As a Christian, I am embarrassed. I realize she is simply attempting to attract headlines, but this should not even be considered news. She and all of the other far right wing conservatives darken many peoples' views of faith. Although it may be difficult to judge from the media, there really are logical, intelligent, loving, and tolerant Christians out there.
Interesting. Shall we consider the treatment of Palestinians by the Zionests as a model for tolerance and understanding...
Hi, Jason from NJ and Jonathan from MS. I agree that the lady surely is just babbling bigotry and stupidity for the purpose of getting attention and ratings. In my view, the horror and the tragedy of this is that there do exist people, plenty of them (well, enough so that this lady makes a comfortable living), who believe her and hang on every word she says.
Let no one ever, ever forget that even in America, there still exists far more than our fair share of prejudice, suspicion, and hate. It's always been out there, in some form or another. Let this lady's evil comments open our eyes to the fact that we're not yet where our nation should be–we need to keep working hard to make society truly decent, respectful, and tolerant.
This is the face of the current day Republican Party. You know that Hannity, Limbaugh et al, are all thinking this, they are just not as stupid as her to say it out loud in public.
