Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
It would seem to me that as a perfected Christian she would not spout such garbage. If that is her idea of what it is to be a perfected Christian, I would be proud to call myself Jewish.
It her kind of "speech" that led to the Crusades. A dogma that says if your not one of us, you are no good. That's the argument that Islamic fundamentalist are using as an excuse to attack us. CONVERT ALL TO CHRISTIANITY–CONVERT ALL TO ISLAM.
I have never heard a Jew say convert or die.
I don't think she meant this to be taken so seriously either, however, I think it is a shame that she would 'go there' whether for ratings, attention, or whatever.
If she wants to be taken seriously, and repsected for her education and her intelligence, this is definitley not the way to go, and the whole interview was stupid and pointless.
YOUR ANOTHER IDIOT THAT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM AND NEED I REMIND YOU THAT JESUS WAS A JEW.
Ann Coulter is so stupid she doesn't even understand the fundamental tenet of the New Testament– that salvation comes through Christ alone. Thus, her statement that "we think Jews go to heaven" is inherently flawed, because if Jews do not believe in the New Testament, they cannot go to heaven. Just another fanatic who purports to belong to one religion to mobilize a demographic when it is clear she doesn't have the slightest understanding of it in the first place.
I recently went to a Jewish rabbi and ask him to forgive "us" because in the past many "so called" Christians had persecuted the Jewish people. Hitler hated the Jews, and the terrorists of today hate the Jews. They hate the ones that God loves. In these last days, the God of Abraham is working to bring the true Christians and Jews together. In the Jewish Bible, in Isaiah chapter 53, there is a prophecy spoken from the standpoint of the Jewish people as they discover their own Messiah. Verse 5-6 says, "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities...all we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way, and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." The whole chapter is amazing. In these last days Christians will grow to love the Jews more and more and be willing to die for them. As Satan hates them, the Christians will love them because God loves them. I recently went to a Jewish rabbi in the airport and told him, "I would like to ask you to forgive the Christians for past abuses of the Jewish people". Our hearts were knit together. Jesus took the Passover cup of wine and said, "this is my blood, the blood of a new promise of forgiveness of sins" the old promise was freedom from Egypt, but the new promise is freedom from sin's penalty through faith in Jesus. This is our faith. That is Coulter's faith. As Christians we hope to see all Jews come to faith in the Messiah, the Lord Jesus.
Traditional Judaism does NOT believe that Jesus was a prophet. In fact, they believe exactly the opposite – that Jesus wasn't legit – that's why they're still Jews not Christians...
Ann Coulter's remarks shed an unfortunate and unrealistic light of anti-semitism on Conservative ideas, as a Jewish Republican, I find her remarks highly offensive and detrimental to the health of the Republican Party.
As much as I dislike her (and I am a Jew as well), I don't think she was being antisemitic; she simply would like to see all Jews (and everyone else for that matter) become Christian just as all Muslims would like to see everyone become Muslim.
If someone were to yell these things Ann says from a window in an insane asylum, nobody would pay any attention. So why does CNN give any airtime or web space to this obviously insane woman who says these bizarre things?
umm, yea, im pretty sure that up until the 20th century, a significant number of people, definetley not just jews, were killed if they chose not to be saved. for her to say this makes me ashamed that people like her exist in the United States, or the world period. She said that Christians were perfect, and that Jews and every1 else are not.
And just when I thought I couldn't hate her any more than I already did.
Looks like all the money in the world can't educate ignorance. I really hope that the Republican party does not allow her to be their voice any longer. She is an embarrassment to our country, which apparently is headed in a neo-nazi direction. I am however glad that she did say this to a very successful Jewish person who is educated without ignorance. I can't wait for the backlash from her own "Christian, TOLERANT, defendants of America," the Republican party. It will be interesting to see how she has hopefully helped the Democratic party by bringing to light the ignorance of the Conservatives! Apparently she has not been educated on what this country stands for and therefore has no business discussing it's politics anyway.
What does it mean to be educated when most of your knowledge is based on extremist religious views and creationism?
I imagine the Genesis Folk will love this. The woman, outrageous, of course, is yet personable and bright. And outlandishness is what makes her interesting. As to her Faith, probably a contrivance of convenience.
Fascinating dialog; almost mesmerizing: something like watching a tarantula suck the life out of a newly born mouse.
Onward Christian soldiers, as Ms. Coulter would say...she's as nuts as Osama Bin Laden..and Jerry Falwell ...and Senator Craig...and all the religious rightwing fanatics..who make statements and then say "no, you misunderstood what I meant to say...", or I have a wide stance..., or some other babble when the truth is spoken.
Ann Coulter is a classic egomaniac and partisan hack who is relentless in pursuit of the limelight and attention. To her apologists, she is neither too educated nor above stooping to the lowest common denominator in her quest for relevance. She is frequently fact challenged. She probably still think that Canada sent troops to Vietnam–as she once vehemently argued.
Liberals should attack her since attacking liberals is her stock in trade.
At least there is no danger of her ever winning a political office.
Why is this poor excuse for an educated woman still on the airways? Some upper level exec must get a kick out of how she irritates the audience!
For God's sake! Do we not have the freedom of speech? Ms. Coulter can say and believe what she wants. If you do not like it, change the channel!
The irony is that the Jews founded the company and now shareholders want to buy them out or convert their shares to non-voting stock.
Why belong to a religion if you don't believe that you have more access to the truth – or couse Christians believe they are more correct then Jews, and Jews believe they are more correct than Christians, isn't this obvious. So why is everyone offended that she is stating the obvious, "I believe that my views are correct and yours are less correct."
Christianity, like all religion, is for the weak-minded. Once you are free of the shackles of self doubt, you will not need the paranormal to explain away your sometimes horrible life, justifying the daily horrors with "The Devil made them do it!"...
I think most people will agree that Ann Coulter could stand to be a little bit more "perfected" too.
What an utter idiot this woman is! And based on conversations I've had with NYC cabbies, Muslims think of themselves as "perfected" Christians – they believe in the Old and New Testament, but then Mohammad came along with the Koran and that's the latest update...
What an idiot.
There are some truth to what she is saying..but..I don't think she has all the facts right..God, the creator of us all, brought many prophets throughout time..whenever he sees His People are not following what the last the messenger told them..he sends another one.. Mosses..then..Jesus...finally Mohamed to bring us the last message..
If she is suggesting that Christians are perfected Jews...then wouldn't that make the Muslims Perfected Christians?
I am just saying......"
