Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
She definitely used to be a man.
And I love the kneejerking of the conservatives in the comments, whoa as them to be called out as the hypocrites they are. Clearly like "Jon" from Sacramento, probably thinks he's a Christian, but kinda turns a blind eye to the whole "do unto others" part. Convenient how the NeoCon right picks and chooses how Christian they really want to be. Then again, so did the Nazis.
I'll take an "unperfected Jew" over this horse-faced, bleached-blonde-with-black-roots, vile-mouthed witch any day of the week. Not once have I heard her say anything decent about anybody. She's in love with her own attention-getting mouth and she hasn't said anything yet that's worth putting in the news. And she actually believes she's a practicing Christian? Enough already.
Would Ann be offended by a Jewish person's belief Christians would be perfected if they no longer believed in a false messiah?
Wow! It's 2007 and people with Ann's beliefs still walk the earth.
By the way,no where in any Jewish teaching is Christ believed to have been a prophet.
WAIT, I'm Christian and...Did she just say...what...what did she say?! This is some type of sick joke right? Is she an actual real person or has someone used computer graphics to regenerate Hitler's "perfect race". I wonder how she really feels about people without blond (bleach) hair and blue (contact) eyes!
Jon, it's not a liberal/conservative thing. It's ignorant hate speech. Coulter does this to get headlines, it works for her.
Notice Donnie said 'educated' and not 'smart'.
right you are Johnathan- her, Bill O, Rush, they are the same- they dont honestly believe this, I have heard Rush say so, but it is where they can make a quick buck (see radio America failure). Problem is that people actually believe their garbage, and those are the folks to fear.
As a jew and a fan of Coulter I'm extremely surprised by these her remarks. I sometimes think Coulter says things without thinking them through. She is obviously brilliant but is oftentimes too stubborn to take back anything she says so she just runs with it. Part of being American is learning from and accepting eachother's differences. She isn't saying that she isn't tolerant – she is saying that things could be better. I disagree. I'm happy to have my Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, et. al friends.
Why are far-right commentators like Coulter still called "conservative?" Pat Buchanan and George Will are conservative. Ann Coulter and her ilk (O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity etc.) are fascists, pure and simple. Why does the media have such difficulty acknowledging this? When Coulter is seen as what she is- a blackshirt- her comments are no longer remarkable.
Jon in Sacremento,
Traditional Jews do not believe Jesus was anything. Jesus is not a part of Judiasm. He is as much a part of Judiasm as Mohamad is a part of Christianity.
I don't know what Ms. Coulter believes but I know what I think.
Jon from Sacramento says 'Traditional Jewish faith recognizes Jesus as a prophet but not a savior.' Uhm....NO. We see him as a man who had good intentions, but he was not a prophet. Truly orthodox Jews in fact view him as a heretic who corrupted Judaism.
I know Jon meant well by his comments, and I do actually agree, speaking as a Jew, that to my understanding Coulter wasn't necessarily wrong in her interpretation of some Christian beliefs. But nevertheless this interpretation of Judaism is flat out wrong. Coulter says that Christians are accepting of Jews, as both religions accept the Old Testament as the word of God. However Jews do not accept the New Testament and thus saying that belief in it is required to 'perfect' us is insulting.
Talk about a bigot espousing poison! If Imus and a bunch of others have been taken to task and/or fired for saying and/or doing less, in my opinion, why in God's (or any other holy entity's) name is this anti-semitic misanthrope still espousing her poison on the public airwaves! I will NEVER again support a sponsor of this bigotted zealot—but then, by today's standards, SHE can say anything she wants...she's a republican and they're always correct!
ann coulter should run for prez...or at least be the GOP spokes-hater.
2007 and fools like her actually get airtime to spread their "christian" values.....
Please, nobody treat this like it's a big deal. It is plainly obvious that Ms. Coulter does not believe a word of what she says.
In her perpetual quest for attention and/or relevance, I fully expect her to resort to going house-to-house spouting malediction.

I fully agree with you Jonathan!
Can someone please explain why this living anachronism is still relevant to anything that matters in today's world?
Does anyone else think Ms. Coulter's career depends on the fact that she keeps her hair so long despite her age?
She's obviously, finally lost her mind. At this point, she's continually pushing the envelope just to be noticed.
She is the modern face of hate. She might as well be hanging nooses and throwing around racial slurs. She is the type of manipulative bigot who never says enough to get completely thrown off the air, but just enough to push the feeble minded, straight-up supremacists to action. She's a hate monger who specializes in self-promotion.
And for the record, Sacremento, saying that someone's religion needs to be 'fast tracked' is offensive. I don't think the 'conservatives' want any more votes being pushed away because you label tolerance as part of the 'liberal' agenda.
There is only one question to ask about an Ann Coulter story... Why does anyone care what she thinks?
So sad that anyone gives this vitriolic, intolerent, hateful woman a stage. She used to make me furious but now I am just baffled.
You people just don't get it
She does not wish Jews to be killed or eliminated
As with most faiths she states Christians would like all people to accept Jesus Christ and be "converted" to Christianity
A person has little faith if he/she does not wish all people to accept their "faith"
Christians unlike the terrorist factions of some faiths do not believe you should be converted or killed.
(I am not referring here to an entire religion just those members who believe in killing nonbelievers)
Coulter is entitled to spout off inanities. She is more than welcome to look like a buffoon.
P.S. I am not a liberal. Sometimes our "friends" do more harm than good.
It must be nice for Ann Coulter, and for those who share her beliefs, not to have to obey laws, especially those of common decency. Is that what Christianity is all about? Jesus died for you and now you can be a jerk ?
If Coulter believes this rubbish, then, as Christ was circumsized, Coulter should, in order to be a more elevated Christian, endure the same process, at the neck!
Pure deluded narcissism! And the reason she keeps at it, is because we let her.
I'm surprised she hasn't called white people ... perfected colored people.
This will undoubtedly land her in some hot water, but is that not what she wants? Still, how can her words NOT be taken as anti-Semitic?
"Jews need to be perfected"
Wow! Just, WOW!
Anyone who thinks that Christians don't have to obey is lost.
No, she really is that intolerant and stupid, regardless of her supposed education. Her words must be taken at face value: her vision of America is one in which everybody looks, acts, thinks and believes like her. That leaves no room at all for anybody else. The gates of the concentration camps stand open...
