Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
She and others like her won't be fired untile advertisers pull out their support. She creates controversy which keeps her employed and gets everyone rich and the media hopping to talk about it. In reality, anyone of us mere mortals would get lynch mobbed in a parking lot and at the very least fired from our jobs for making such statements.
Wow. Sometimes I understand why people like this get death threats: cuz they deserve it. Let's just dress her up in SS black right now. They're still pursuing the Nazi propaganda department heads from the 1940s so why the hell aren't we throwing her in jail now?
Ann reminds me of Madonna, very successful at promoting herself and wildly successful yet lacking any real talent. Apparently she hasn't been getting any attention in the press as of late so she must shock. Unfortunately all of the presses will examine and argue her comments for a few days and as always Ann will sit back and smile. I for one have always ignored her transparent attempts at attention. America should not take the bait; perhaps then she will go away once and for all.
this is outrageous.I,a mere 16 year old girl can even see the injustice in her words.I have heard of race wars and sexist, but what is the world coming to now that more people like this woman are coming out and being predjudice against other religions. This makes me feel humiliated to even say that i am a part of the human race anymore because of more and more people becoming like this.
I wonder if she belives there is a statute of limitations on the killing of christ? ......
So long as people like Coulter and Hannity speak for Christians in this country, then I have no use for Christianity any more.
I wonder if Ms Coulter realizes the logical misstep she made – asserting that by virtue of being a newer build on an older religion that Christianity is inherently superior.
By this logic Islamism is superior to Std Christianity and Mormonism superior to Islam.
Continuing the logic any Cult based on these religions created in the last week but believed to by true by its followers is yet superior.
– All praise to the prophet Zimzy
( Sure I made him no…her up, but I really believe in her and to get to heaven all you and I got to do is give money to her priest)
Did I mention I am the only priest at the moment? I am sure I did…oh yes quit certain I did.
There really is no philosophical difference between the desire to prostelyze and suicide bombing. Both are born from the belief that one has exclusive access to the truth, and that other beliefs are to be eliminated. Its stunning how, despite appearances to the contrary, how philosophically close Ann is Osama.
You bunch of silly, hysterical libs. You, as libs (actually, socialists) claim to be the "tolerant" ones, yet you'd like all kinds of nasty things to happen to Ann Coulter. Sure, as a conservative, I'd like those same things to happen to Rosie, but at least I don't pretend to be tolerant of crazy viewpoints.
Anne Coulter is a smart, savvy, calculating woman who knows how to push the envelope with comments. I don't believe she is anit-semetic. I do believe, however, that she intentionally seeks controversy and loves keeping herself in the limelight. You'll never get Anne Coulter to "sugar" coat her opinions.
Apparently "educated" and "intelligent" are not synonomous, at least in Ms. Coulter's case.
Yes, she is accurately stating Christianity's grossly arrogant and presumptuous position about the relative merit of other religions. However, this is nothing new – and neither is the phenomenon of some loudmouthed yahoo picking fight just because she can.
Prehaps the comeback Mr. Deutsch should have made was to suggest exaniming the New Testament from a different viewpoint. Maybe it's not so much a fast-track to salvation as a dumbed-down version that God presented when he realized that most people weren't able to manage the rigors of Judaism.
And it's not offensive at all for me to say that.
I am truly offended by the comments made by Coulter. As a practicing Christian, I do not consider myself a "perfected Jew". I don't think I know what that statement means. Her statement is completely erroneous. As a public figure, she has failed at displaying tact and common sense. She is a discredit to her religion. How can she call herself a Christian when she ins't tolerant of anyone who isn't like her? Christ's message consists of tolerance. He taught Gentiles and Jews alike. She certainly doesn't seem very Christ-like to me.
Amazing America! Debating about whose beliefs are better, without questioning childhood brainwashing by brainwashed parents about gods, angels, devils, saviors, and such unsbstantiated nonsense. Real liberals do not believe in god and don't care whose naive delusions are better.
Yet another stupid, anti-semitic, blinded "christian" Intolerant, judgemental, and think they're "perfect" despite their sins. Yet they are the most Superstitious of the lot: Funny how they mock others for their beliefs, but let me get this straight, they believe in: immaculate conception? rising from the dead? second comings? walking on water? what a joke, this whole world would be A LOT better off without christians. Just ask all those persecuted by them over the years, and all the oppressed women. Give me a break. Dumb C.
Ease up folks. This is America. She can say whatever she wants. If you don't agree with her, ignore her and go on with life. Folks spend too much time worrying about what others say. Spend your time more constructively. Volunteer to help folks less fotunate than yourselves. Actions speak louder than words.
What a sick and twisted woman
Obviously she's not as educated as all the comments keep giving her credit for. I don't believe she does her religion any service by sounding so judgmental and ignorant.
Okay, let me see if I understand a lot of these positions. The New Testament, which supposedly teaches love for everyone, is the "perfected" Jewish faith...right? Okay...then why the hell did followers of the New Testament go from Europe all the way to the Middle East to kill everyone. Several times. Doesn't the modern Christian church teach about it's own history? With all the killing in the name of a peaceful, loving God...they're probably too embarassed. Makes me glad I'm a Pagan. If I was a Christian, I'd be so embarassed by her statements. At least with us, if we screw up something that bad....normally we'll own up to it.
What drug is Ms.Coulter on? I saw her on an interview on Today and instantly didn't like her and I am a Christian. For her to make remarks like this is just over the line. Deutsch made a remark to her about she being too educated? Educated in what? Not reality and life! She obviously has no clue! Most of her statements make that clear!
If Ann Coulter and Michael Moore had a baby, it would be totally awesome!
"I'm red, no I'm blue! Wah wah pay attention to me media!"
I believe Anne said what she truly believes and a lot of Christian would agree with her. But if you had substituted the word Moslem for Christian and Christian with Jew, i.e. Christians are imperfect Moslems I am sure she would have gone off the wall. I am sure she would never tolerate someone saying she is an imperfect Moslem, even though they came after Christianity. Also, if Jews are imperfect Christians, I am curious what she believes Budhist, Moslems, Hindus, etc... are?
Honestly, the reason Ann Coulter makes the money she makes and gets the attention she gets is because everyone participates in feeding the monster...
We should all learn our lesson....
My faith or lack of it is no one's business but my own. Belief is something that should be held close – don't ask (tell) me to believe as you do and I'll respect your right to do the same. As far as Ann Coulter goes, she is entitled to believe that Jews are "imperfect" Christians and that all Jews need to be believe as she does. She should remember that Muslims believe that as well.
Jews believe that everyone (not Jewish) who follow the 7 Noachide laws are going to the world to come – they don't preach conversion and don't beleive you have to believe as they do.
Tkun H'alom means building in this world a righteous place, don't practice your religion because it will get you in heaven, but treat this world and each other with courtesy and respect because it is the proper thing to do. Jews do not believe in waiting for a miracle – do everything you can today to achieve goodness and kindness in this world.
It's amazing how when someone makes comments like these how everyone starts making excuses for them or saying "its the liberals, all the liberals." People why can't you just admit when someone is wrong?
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! Thats good comedy
