Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
She's not stupid at all. She knows exactly what to say and do to keep people talking about her. Who is she? Why do people keep listening to her and reporting what she says? When her comments are treated as being legitimate she is just getting exactly what she wants and laughing all the way to the bank, so to speak.
Funny thing is I used to like her. Now after the 9-11 comments about the victims families, she just crossed the line in perpetuating the pain and grief when somebody loses a loved one. I do believe she tries to grab attention whenever she gets the chance. It must be to promote her celeb and/or books. We really shouldn't give her the chance. Her flippant comments on religion make a fairly decent looking woman ugly.
as a teacher it embarasses me that there are people in this country that say the things such as coulter...it is this ridiculous rhetoric that shows how far our country truly has to go in order to return to the greatness it was supposed to be based on...first the 9/11 widows...then the homosexuals and now the jews...i think adolf hitler thought the same thing and look at the legacy it left behind...gee, ms. coulter, for someone so educated it would be nice if you actually realized the idiocy of your remarks to the younger generation...simply sad in the end...
This woman is a blatant anti-semite and an elitist white supremisist. Adolf Hitler would be proud.
Just please let her keep talking....she is doing such a service to liberals and moderates by disclosing her visionary "republican ideals". She seems to have lost the sense of direction this country is taking demographically in a religious and racial perspective and she seems to have lost comprehension of the idea that nothing stays the same forever, including "perfection". Her obsession with judgment is a manifestation of ingnorance.
Why was my comment of last night removed? It was far less defamatory than the comments that are on the site now.
I'm sure this has been said over and over, but I don't know what possesses Coulter to believe that she can speak for all Christians! "We," as all inclusive, certainly do not believe what she says, because I do not believe what she says. Maybe a group believes as she does, but I'd appreciate it if she doesn't lump all Christians under her belief system. Christians already get pigeon-holed and stereotyped as right-wing conservative wackos these days...the last thing we need is Coulter professing to embody the ethos of the religion.
Frankly, why can't people just leave us Jews alone. Enough. As a Jew, I vote for just being left alone.
Jesus was a liberal whould would have been ashamed of Ann and todays religious right. They are lost in their lust for fame, fotune and power. Shame on Anne and all her supporters for USING Jesus for her own means!
Very disappointing remarks – she clearly was trying to be funny – glib – and wasnt. She is a joke now. Sad really – she used to add to the debate, now she is a punchline.
Does she purposely not take her meds before going on these talk shows?
How come in the USA – you fire MEN who slur or get racially offensive on the radio, tv or in the written media. Yet this WOMAN is allowed to continue year after year with her diatribe of ignorance. You should hire back all the men if this lady can get away with what she does. Oprah? Is Oprah in the building? We need a show on this! Someone somewhere must still have a conscience!
If Ann Coulter "had any brains she'd be a" Democrat.
Jesus would take such offense to this. He would be the first one to tell her that she is so wrong.
Ann, just ask the question honestly. "What would Jesus do? And if she thought about long enough and considered what Jesus taught. She would shut her overused mouth and go into exhile and pray for her soul.
One word: Wow!
I understand what Ann is trying to say, but I think it came out wrong and a little offensive, but I don't think she meant it that way. As a follower of Christ, we want EVERYONE to have the saving Grace of Christ. Also, as a follower of Christ, I embrace the fact that as a "gentile" we were grafted in. I am so grateful for the Jewish people and faith, without them, we would not have Christ, who himself was a practicing Jew as well as His disciples, who themselves did not become Believers until after the resurrection. As a nation we are so quick to take up an offense from Christians, but has no problem offending Christians and making them appear as the problem.
Ann Coulter is a perfect example of why this country does not move forward in the area of tolerance and understanding between human beings. I thought Christians were supposed to believe in that. Jesus did and he practiced Judaism.
Oh, Ann! You're soooooooo outrageous!
Clearly, she's not educated enough to understand that saying these things for publicity does not make it acceptable. It's a sad day when a woman has to make herself out to be a raucous racist for fame...
Coulter is just a Lunatic. Check out her insane look. What´s really scaring is your media system, where everybody seems to get a stage as long as it sells – and then you call this freedom of speech, don´t you?
For all the guys who really hate people like Anne:

I'm Catholic and my husband is Jewish. We've been married for 20 years. I've seen "Christian" marriages fall apart, one by one. I have never and will never ask my husband to give up his Jewish heritage and he would never ask me. It's call RESPECT. I will also say that I hear anti-semitic comments from Democrats I know all the time. Baptists are especially cruel when talking about Jewish people "not accepting Christ as their Savior". Last I checked, Christ was a Jewish man. I've heard the cruel comments firsthand. Apparently, Ms. Coulter is no better than those people.
She is as insane as those wicked Christian conservatives.
This is a great example of Ann Coulter trying to drum up publicity for herself, and nothing more. The comments that she made were absolutely idiotic. She is the political equivalent of Howard Stern, she's just in it for the shock value and presenting the most offensive, extreme point of view possible. In this bizzaro world of celebrity that we live in, this is the type of behavior that generates a frenzy of press coverage, which makes people like Ann Coulter rich and successful.
If you disagree with Ann, which, in this case, who wouldn't? I think she must have a list of people in society that she she sets out to offend so that she can get back into the spotlight, and she just checked off the box titled "Jews". Here's a suggestion: stop watching the TV shows and buying the magazines that give her any coverage at all. Go outside and take a walk instead.
WOW, these comments are really interesting. Ann Coulter has really a poor choice of words in her discussion of the Christian faith. Her poor choice of words seems to be her trademark for shock value. For starters as Christians we are not perfect, as matter of fact the admission of our sinful nature is a requirement. The old testament law was the standard God gave us so we would see how far short we are from perfection as individuals. It was not given so that justify ourselves as holy. As Christians we accept the death on the cross of Jesus for paying the penalty for our sins. The Bible says...."The Wages of sin is death." "Our righteous is fifthly rags". Christ was perfect, we are not and never will be. Do you want to know how perfect you are, look at the ten commandants and see how you stack up. Here's a few to think about...
Thou shall not bear false witness-how many of us lie, yes even the little white lies count.
Thou shall not covet–lusting after worldly things is doing just that.
Thou shall not commit adultery. Jesus said lustful thoughts are committing adultery in your heart.
These are just 3 of the 10 the one time violation of any of these once makes you and me both sinners. If you want answers here a link to Billy Graham's website.

To the Jewish people reading this, I was not fortune enough to be born as a Jew;truly God's chosen people. You are of noble birth. It is through your race that mankind has been given so much. Please look with an open heart and mind and look at the prophecies concerning the Messiah and compare these to what Jesus fulfilled. The feasts you celebrate point to him as well. Please keep in mind truth never fears investigation.
To the person who feels that Christianity is not a monotheistic belief. God has fingerprints in his creation. God is in three in the same way that matter is. Matter can be solid, liquid or gas..it's still the same object just in different forms. If you do a study I think you will be surprised to find how much of world is in three's. That's not by accident, it's by design. May God bless you in your search.
I'm shocked that Deutch was offended by this. Anne Coulter is right about Christianity. Why do we feel the need in our liberal culture to whitewash everything to make it super-tolerant and everybody-is-ok? Religion demands things of people, and different religions tend to be in disagreement with each other as to how to achieve their spiritual goals. Yes, Christianity and Judaism are different. As a Jew, I am not offended by her statement at all. It's her religion's view of the world. Yes, what Anne Coulter said is true. What is all the fuss about?
