Coulter: We want 'Jews to be perfected'

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.

Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004

"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)

When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."

Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"

"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."

"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”

"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."

Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."

"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."

Deutsch said he was personally offended.

"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."

Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.

"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."

Considering that all this talk is based on FAITH and not FACT, I'm celebrating the landing as Roswell this holiday season.

Oh, and my faith tells me that Coulter is the devil, if you squint your eyes you can see $$$ tattooed on her ass, I mean face.

Is anyone surprised? As Canadian, I simply shake my head and chuckle to myself as yet another media puts her footh solidly down her throat. So hugely stupid and arrogant. Coulter is the same as Imus and Limbaugh. Hugely popular, and elevated to almost cult status by Americans, and particularly the mainstream media, until they say something so shocking.

It baffles me how she gets the airtime to say the things she says. Not only is she arrogant but painfully stupid and void of any logical arguments.

Looks good on you Ann. Can't wait to see how you backpeddle your way out of this one. I think you owe an apology to all people of Jewish descent. I don't think they are holding their breath however.

Why would anyone even give credence to this moronic babble? These are merely the ramblings of a publicity seeking, political pole dancer.

First, is Ann Coulter a guy dressing up and acting like a female? that adam's apple is quite freaky.

Second, I'm Catholic. I don't feel superior to anyone or perfect to anyone, especially a whole religion. If (what ever Ann Coulter really is) Ann wants to represent the Republican race and they are going to allow it, then great. But don't lump me or any other Christian who don't associate with her nonsense into that same group.

Islam is perfected Christianity and Jewdism. Why don't you all join the final perfected religion. Ann, why waist your time on a halfway house idealogy, become a Muslim and you will then really be saved

Isn't that what these religions are all about? Jews think they are it, Them comes Christians and then Muslims! Who is right?

Wow...Most of you are really ignorant to the true meaning of one of the worlds leading religions. I'm a Christ follower or Christian and I think it would be stupid of me to be a Christian and think other religions are correct. It doesn't make sense to do that. Of course I think the world would be a better place if everyone was a Christian...that is why Jesus told us to go make disciples of all nations.....It was his plan from the beginning. As far as Anne singling out the Jewish religion...She was answering a question about her beliefs and the beliefs of her religion as she understands them. Her comments have been taken out of context and a liberal media is stirring the pot. Another example of how Christianity is the becoming one of the most persecuted groups of people in the world. Wow..The bible talks about that also. It's only going to get worse. God Bless

I've seen clips of this lady over the years and have read her views from time to time. Though she is educated and is intelligent, one thing is clear: she lacks empathy and is not rational; this latest comments seems almost delusional. It's sensationalism of the media that puts her in a position of "authority" on anything. I feel sorry for her because the best thing to do right now is ignore her... which is sad as she lacks empathy which means she must lack some love somewhere. Please consider her comments as childish until she grows up. We don't punish children when they've drawn false conclusions on the world, nor do we take their conclusions seriously. Sorry Ann, but I'm afraid you are like a child making a silly comment.

I believe that a christian world is a world ruled by conformity. I think that Ann Coulter brings Christians a bad name. It's playing into their exact stereotype that they will "convert you". Christianity seems to be one of the most... discrediting. What people don't ever seem to understand is that you might feel secure in your beliefs, and someone else feels secure in theirs. Do them a favor, let them be. Their religion matters, no matter what yours is.

    Just because I'm 15 doesn't mean I can't carry a decent point.

What do Coulter and Clinton have in common? Both are only interested in furthering their own personal, pecuniary interests. We conservatives are smart, never considered Ann as a serious spokesperson for our political cause. The gullible liberals still believe Senator Clinton is on their side and truly defends their causes.

If anything, the problem is Christianity. It preaches hatred and promotes misconceptions. It leads us to wars that should never be fought. It has turned many educated people into small minded bigots. Ann Coulter is the perfect example of this.

Anti-Semetic?? Please. She's a foolish woman that didn't think out what she was trying to say before she went on the air. Whenever ANYONE shoots from the hip like that on TV, they always end up looking stupid. This also goes to show that if you upset someone of a different race for any reason it seems, you are a racist...or in this case an anti-semite. That's just rediculous. When will people in this country just learn to get over things and move on instead of throwing a fit every time something they don't like happens?? I've been insulted, I've been offended in my life, but you don't see me getting news stories about me. My parents are italian, and I've had many people throw racial slurs for Italians at me. You know what I do when that happens? I don't call the ACLU, I don't call Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson (they wouoldn't back up someone as pale as me, but I digress), I don't call the local news station to tell them about the horrible injustice I have suffered at the hands of an ignorant racist, I just WALK AWAY. I know it's hard, people are rude, mean, stupid, ignorant, and wrong sometimes, but you don't make it any better when you just go around telling everyone what this evil person did. "This person is a racist!!" What good does that do? It wastes the time of the news organizations, and it does nothing but foster more negative feelings towards others. I can bet you Jews in America today are not fans of Ann Coulter. So what has this whole event done? It has only fostered more hate and loathing between people. As soon as people realize that publicizing these events where people think they have been victims of racism don't actually solve any problems, then we might be able to do something about it. Also, Donny Deutch didn't do anything about her comments, he just said there and questioned her. Want to show you're upset? Ask her to leave, walk off set, refuse to speak to her. Dont' just run and tattle to the news so that they can tell everyone too. DO SOMETHING. Everyone in this country wants to blame others for their problems and wants someone else to fix what they don't like. No one wants to do anything for themselves or fix their own problems. ARGH!!! Just grow up people. If someone offends you, walk away from them knowing you're smarter than they are because you don't have to talk to others in an offensive way. that's all. Live the rest of your life knowing you are better than that person that wanted to insult you. don't sue, don't try to get them fired, just walk away knowing that you are not a fool like them.

Ann Coulter gives Christians a bad name. No one can seriously say that people of the Jewish faith need to be perfected. That is anti-semetic and bigotist. She deserves to be hanged and burned at the stake.
I personally am a Christian and I find her untolorable and idiotic. God says he accepts everyone no matter what, That includes Jewish people. Judism is the basis of Christianity, she cannot deny that, being a 'good Christian' she must know that.

Ok, so the obvious and easy discussion centers on her bigotry and flare for controversy. What never gets discussed is the fact that the whole idea of religion is a joke to begin with! Didn't we give up our invisible friends after childhood? Oh, I'm sorry, do you really believe we have it right and the Greek's, Roman's, Inca's (etc...) had it wrong? I wish I could see what society will be worshiping (or not) in 1,000 years. Most likely an image of Bill Gates. Sorry folks, religion causes more strife than its worth. And aside from filling in the answer to the eternal question of how did the big bang actually start, the big "guy" has no place in modern, educated society. If we start to place our faith in our fellow man, perhaps the racism and contrived differences would end. Then maybe wars would just be about money & oil instead of religion! 🙂 (have fun with this post everyone).

I'm no talmudic scholar myself, but the fact is that Judaism is a monotheistic religion, and christianity is not.

A classic example of ignorance. Christianity is monotheistic. Father, Son, and Spirit are one God. This is the basic principle of the Holy Trinity and the backbone of Catholicism, Christ's Church placed in the hands of Peter.

These statements aren't antisemetic at all. She says that she wishes Jews embraced Christ, that Christian laws are more concurrent with God's, and that Christ's teachings reestablished which laws were important.

Any Christian really can't argue with these statements, they are quite true. Catholicism thinks and often expresses that other sects of Christianity are incomplete. These are pretty standard beliefs. Nowhere in here does she say "wipe them off the planet" or that they are "taking advantage of the economy." None of these comments are antisemetic. They are, in fact, the faith.
