Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
I'm secure enough in my religion where sticks-n-stones don't hurt me…are you?

So, if a news network interviewed a Muslim pundit saying that all Christians should convert to Islam, you'd be here telling everyone to get over it.
Ms Coulter is a nearly-hot blond chick. Too bad she's also a raving A-hole
If everyone would stop and think for a moment. Christians are directed by the New Testament seek out non-believers and give them the Gospel, or the good news that through Jesus they can be saved and go to heaven. Very simple. Christians wish everyone to be Christian because they care about everyone's soul and feel this is the only way to salvation. You can choose to believe or not. Christians believe that if you choose wrongly you will not go to heaven.
Although what Ann Coulter said was extremly offensive to non-Christians, it simply reveals the unvarnished truth about basic Christian doctrine. When you thoroughly examine the basic tenets of any religion, you will find that they are paranoid, grandiose and fundamentaly psychotic at their core. This is what is so terribly dangerous about religious fundametalism, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or Hindu.
Im so tired of all this nonsense. Anytime anyone says anything about Jews its labeled anti-semetic. The media is controlled by Jews so they make such a big deal about some idiot making rambling comments that don't really make any sense anyway. I would like to see more focus on important issues instead of focusing on who said what about Jews. Jews are such a small minority in this nation yet they grab so many headlines. Something is not right about this.
What is wrong w/ this wom...., I mean man?
why do we continue to give this woman a forum to spout off her insensitive, racial and bigoted views?
She is not THAT smart/educated or she would choose her words more carefully. Also would it kill her to eat a sandwich or wear something other than a black cocktail dress?
Ann Coulter is a caricature of an idealogue. She makes outrageous comments to stay in the media. When the media stops giving her a forum, she will quickly fade from fame. Isn't bad publicity still publicity?
I believe that Coulter is not only ignorant on how to discuss religious views, but also ignorant on the Christianity itself. I am a born again Christian and have dedicated my life to serve and live for Jesus Christ the One True God, but by not means are we perfect and anyway, our imperfection is why Jesus is needed in order to get into heaven.
Her fast track view of Christianity does just not exist in the bible and Jews are Christian cousins and God has he own covenant with them. Furthermore her view about Christianity is dangerous, a fast track Christianity and a fast track to Hell.
To be a follower of Jesus Christ is a life long hard narrow road with the only chance for eternal life, but you still have to be focus and remain faithful to Jesus and his teaching. Her view on this matter reflects my belief of why, when the rapture happens many "Christians" will be shocked when that are left behind. Well, I think I have said enough, but I had to set her straight.
Get a sense of humor people
Everyone of us is an idiot. I mean really. Morons, if you will. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists and on down the line. BELIEVE WHAT I BELEIVE or you will go to hell? Yeah sure. Oh wait, if I don't believe what you believe you will KILL me? That's clear thinking there. Alas, human beings, for all our beauties, visions, dreams and abilities, we seem destined to destroy ourselves because of ignorance and petty ideologues. Truly saddening and equally maddening.
I AM JEWISH, AND I CAN SEE THE HUMOR IN HER RESPONSE. FOLKS, YOU ARE MAKING A BIG DEAL ABOUT NOTHING. HER STATEMENT WAS MEARLY TO GET ATTENTION, WHICH SHE DID. Again, the public is making a big deal about nothing.
Ann Coulter's goal is quite simple really, she NEEDS attention and is willing to do or say whatever it takes to get that attention.
The fact that she's nuts doesn't hurt her quest at all.
Ann Coulter is a man.
This woman really needs to just shut her pie hole and stop trying to be the spokesperson for real Christians, like myself. She is not a true Christian, and she most certainly isn't a "perfected" Christian. If she were truly a Christian, she would know that the only perfect person was Christ.
Who is more at fault here?
Coulter for her beliefs (and she has every right to believe what she wants to), OR
the "news" outlets that keep giving her a platform.
Like mom used to say "Ignore them and they will go away.
I don't know which was worse,Deutsch or Coulter. Was Deutsch hot under the collar? Your education must be on a par with Deutsch's. You really described Coulter as educated? Nuts, yes. Educated ,no
Why do you think she's smart? Because she's educated? or was on the law review? What does being educated or "smart" stop someone from being a hateful, thoughtless bigot? Look at the history of her ccomments, she's a thoughless Jerk who thinks she better than everyone.
859 comments logged as I post one more. I would be willing to bet that more Coulter detractors than supporters listen to her if only for an opportunity to fly their own flag. Essentially, that is what is sublimely wrong with this country. Sure, we have freedom of speech, as we should. Unfortunately, with that freedom comes every idiot with an opinion that, unless I subscribe to their belief and/or belong to their organization, I am doomed to hell and my views pointless. Well, my fellow Americans, hell is getting warmer and all of our opinions are pointless. It is our actions and deeds that count. It's time to eliminate borders and feed our starving brothers and sisters. It's not about religion, ethnicity or anything else you wish to debate. It's about saving the world for posterity. Ask any kid the meaning of posterity; blame for the blank stare you receive rests entirely on our shoulders. The time for opinion has long passed. It's time for positive moral change regardless of who or what you worship.
Do I fear terrorism in the United States? You bet I do! Terrorism in the form of Ann Coulter and her "Christian Conservatives." I fear them far more than I do Osama bin Laden and his ilk, since they don't have to sneak into the country to do their evil...they live her legally. Surely, Ann and her ilk, would have proudly marched lockstep with Adolph Hitler.
As a non-Christian, I respect the right of everyone to practice their religious beliefs....in their home, in their churches and in their lives. BUT, they do not have the right to impose their beliefs in my home, my schools or my government. While Christians may be the majority in America, this bunch of radical Christians are not the majority of anything except hate and intolerance.
Just when you think her 15 minutes are up, she jumps queue with the help of the mainstream media and says something outrageously stupid. Enough already.
I think Ann Coulter is a professional idiot. How joke she is!??!??
Nothing wrong/incorrect with what she said. She was being factually accurate. and you can't deny that.
However, since we live in such a crybaby PC world she prolly should have just avoided the subject.
But deep down, you understand that she is factually correct.
Leave it to Ann Coulter to prove the words of Ghandi correct.
I like your Christ, but not your Christians.
