Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
She's a real piece of work, she is. Just when the Republicans start to really get a following of Jewish voters, she opens her mouth and says that. I can assure you the Republican party will distance themselves from her as a result of that remark. She is the best conservative voice the Democrats could hope to exist.
This is exactly the kind of intolerant, idiotic, dogmatic Christian thinking that drove me away, to realize I was a Buddhist. Ann Coulter is of course the worst of the worst, but all Christians are deluding themselves with their highly rewritten and translated Bible and their anthropocentric view of the universe. Maybe next lifetime Coulter will realize how wrong she is, but I have little hope for her in this one.
In a world where shock value is becoming more popular we now hear, again, from the shockiest and lobotomized Coulter Creature. I need to know who, what, and where about her; she must have been born into the most isolated community and or household in the USA. Does she have real parents or did she grow up in a orphanage? What Chrsitian cult is she a part of? I fear that there are more like her.
Most psychotics have a firmer sense of reality than Coulter and I do strongly feel that CNN ought to stop giving her press time. I beseech you to stop interviewing the genetic mutation from Area 51. No more Coulter, please. God save us.
I would call her a disgusting human being but that is an insult to human beings everywhere. Last time I checked, we were all God's children. Time to stop giving people like this a platform.
The only thing surprising about this situation is that everyone seems shocked by her comments. Ann Coulter has made a living by attempting to shock people with her arrogance and holier-than-thou attitude. Her intolerance knows no bounds.
Not defending the President of Iran in anyway at all, but... what? How can she get away with saying something so radical and absurd, yet others do not. Even Mel Gibson got reamed.
I think we can conclude that Miss. Coulter is nuts.
Its her choice of words! As a Christian I would never, ever say that to anyone unless I had an ulterior motive such as grabbing attention that could translate into income as I think she is doing.
Who made Ann Coulter the ruler of the universe?
Who does she think she is Joan of Dark?
What kind of voices is she hearing?
At least the original Jeanne D'Arc was an honest woman.
Why do people think she doesn't believe these things she says? If more people realized how intolerant and closed-minded the far-right is maybe they wouldn't gain so much traction.
Clearly she was given multiple opportunities to retract or at least clarify her statements, and reiterated the same thing – if you do not believe what I believe, you are a lesser person. Of course, that is the coin of the religious realm in general, so maybe there is nothing to be surprised about...
maybe if people stopped quoting and interviewing her,she would loose the platform and finally shut up.everybody knows, she is just doing it for attention
I'm unimpressed by Christians in America, and Coulter's intellect is emblematic of one of the reasons why. Why would anyone want to embrace a belief system that leads to this dullard mentality. Education has nothing to do with it, as all socio-economic classes are vulnerable to brainwashing.
Incidentally, according to her line of reasoning, Muslims are correct because Muhammad was the Seal of Prophets and Islam has a basis in both the Old and New Testaments. We can also say the same thing about Mormonism.
Anyway, one more reason why we shouldn't vote Republican.
Jon from Sacramento is absolutely incorrect. No Jew considers Jesus as a prophet of God. There are no Jewish texts that recognize Jesus as a prophet of God. Jesus' followers considered him a Rabbi or teacher. In fact, traditional Jewish thought is that Jesus was a false prohet because of his claims. I challenge you to back up what you have claimed. This claim is baseless and offensive to Jews.
I'd like to see Coulter perfected but there aren't enough plastic surgeons, psychiatrists, and exorcists in the world to do the job.
Look up the word BIGOT in the dictionary and find a photo of Coulter. Very little offends me, but she just tattooed herself at thetop of my list.
This just goes to show you how ignorant and intolerant the conservatives/republicans are. They have lost ALL credibility as a political organization and are currently relying on a bunch of brainwashed christians for ANY votes at all. See now what a vote for ANY republican will bring you! A republican vote is a vote for religion-based social cleansing and opression!
I'm speechless.
As a graduate of a good Lutheran college, I find Ann Coulter to be very unChristian in her understanding of Christianity. I bought her book (deeply discounted and used so as not to support her) and found I could not get past the first few pages. She is a very poor excuse for being a follower of Jesus. She gleefully heaps derision on anyone not following her brand of right-wing interpretation of the Bible.
And what brand of Christianity does Ms. Coulter reccomend that we adopt: Roman Catholic, American Catholic, Orthodox (Greek, Russian, Armenian, etc.), Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Congregational, Southern Baptist, American Baptist, Evangelical Free, Mormon, any of the Independent Evangelical or Charismatic Churches, Church of Christ, United Church of Christ, ........................? Do they all regard themselves as "Perfected Jews" (in contrast to Unperfected Jews)?
Sometimes I wonder if Ann Coulter is that desprate for attention to always feel the need to insert her foot into her mouth to bee seen.
Eva Braun has been reborn.
Libs take the bait EVERY TIME!
Outrage in 5, 4, 3, 2, ...
She's really rather sad and pathetic in her constant quest for attention. (And she sould eat something once in a while.)
I just wish she wouldn't imply that all Christians think like that.
Well, I wish a lot of things, but I would take that for a start.
Ms. Coulter obviously has a brain the size of a pea, if that large. I find her peculiar looking, too. Bottle blonde brainless babe!
