Coulter: We want 'Jews to be perfected'
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.
Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004
"People were happy,” she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. “They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." (Video: Watch Coulter's comments on CNBC)
When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."
Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"
"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."
"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. “You can’t possibly. You’re too educated.”
"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."
Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."
"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

"Yeah, no,” Coulter replied. “That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners."
Deutsch said he was personally offended.
"No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be," she said. "I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe - this is just a statement of what the New Testament is - is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Deutsch continued to call Coulter's comments anti-semetic.
"No, no, - I don't want you being offended by this," she responded. "This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [the late Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."

Deutsch got what he deserved. When Ann was making negative comments about other groups/people - what was Deutsch doing? Now Ann has made a stupid statement about Jews - he is upset. YOU SHOULD HAVE NOT GIVEN HER A PLATFORM TO SPEAK FROM.
Frankly I didn't even understand what the heck she was trying to say! And she's a famous author?! Learn how to express a cogent thought! Besides, religion is for the weak. We create our own values. We create our own worth. When we die, we are worm food. Deal with it. Make the world a better place, because you are mature, enlightened and smart enough to know that it is the right thing to do. Not because some cosmic "Dad" told you to!
This nut job just reinforces every bad perception I have of the Christian Right. We get stuck with these losers, while Gore is winning Emmys, Oscars and Noble Peace Prizes!! This world and especially the USA would have been so much better is Bush didn't steal the 2000 (or 2004) election!
And for those that righteously say that a liberal cannot be a Christian. Huh? Anyone can live according to "Christian Values". Its easy. Be nice to people, live by the golden rule, don't kill, steal etc. Pretty basic. Of course, most of the GOP live lives that run completely against those values (of course, while they say they are being good Christians). Personally, I don't think right-wingers can be atheists! That requires a fortitude and awareness that is in short supply on that side of the ideological spectrum.
Her comments show how ignorant and how stupid she is and will always be. She certainly has her little and pathetic brains in her posterior section.

Wow, wouldn't be a shame if NO ONE really goes to heaven. And all of this arguing, fighting and war would be for naught. Having been raised Catholic, the older I get, the more anti religion I become. Is it just me, or are there are more scandals associated with the red (christian) party than with the blue?

Those of you who suggested she should be banned should be careful. I am Jewish and her comments are blatantly anti-semetic and offensive. However, she does have a right to her opinion. Now her opinion may be unpopular, unjust, offensive, or just plain wrong but it is still her opinion.
Frankly, I don't care for her and I think she has done herself in with this one but hey let her have her day and it can remind us why 6,000,000 of our people died in 5 years and why for years we have been bombed in Israel. Good for you Ann!!! Rally the troops
No Christian I know uses Jesus Christ as a "Fast Track." Ann Coulter's got it all wrong. Being a Christian doesn't mean automatic entry to heaven. It means we're forgiven by through the blood of Christ and we are to OBEY, be obedient; not just do or say whatever the heck we want. Maybe Ann should read her Bible instead of telling others what to do.
Whether she is doing this for publicity or is just that ignorant doesn't really matter if don't allow her the chance to speak into the microphones and camaras. In fact, its just as disgraceful if she is doing this for publicity because it serves as food for those in our country that really are stupid enough to believe the types of things that she is spouting off. That makes her comments seriously irresponsible. Ridiculous - can we just keep her off the airwaves and render her as irrelevant as she should be??

Hmm. A little abrupt and ill-stated, obviously, but I agree with her. Salvation is found through Jesus Christ – none other. Label your religion whatever you will, but if it's based on anything less than the cross of Calvary, you're wasting your time. But we'll see. One day, we'll all see.

I am suprised people are outraged by her comments. Any person with commonsense would know what this woman is all about. Do not think your safe because they are nice to your face. Blacks are the only people who stand in between people like her from really telling how she feels.

How can I add something that hasn't been touched on yet? I'll try. Donny Deutsh knows that the controversy stirred up by comments made publicly by Ms. Coulter will benefit HIM. A benefit to a talk show host is publicity and more money. Both of them are greedy and don't live true religious lives.

What is a Christian? The people who call themselves Christian bear no resemblence to the Christians in the New Testement. The Jewish people who call themselves Jews today bear no resemblence to the Isreali people of the Old testament today.
Why? Has the Pope speak to Jesus Christ
in the last 1800 or 1900 years. Has The been a Jewish Prophet other than Jehovah who was born Jesus Christ speak to the Jewish People since around 500 BC.
Jehovah and Elohim have set the religion upon the earth at least 6 times and maybe more times and in each instance corruption has destroyed the religion causing Elohim and Jehovah to withdraw their authority from the Churchs from Adam down to the Church Jesus Christ established. God and Jehovah do not deal with corrupt institutions.

Is it really that surprising that she'd say something ridiculous, outlandish and inflammatory when she just put out a new book? I mean, look at her when she speaks; she literally can't even keep a straight face half the time because she's fully aware of how absolutely nonsensical she sounds. She's even said as much.
Yet still, she's able to garner all of this media attention and make lots of money from being a living, breathing Conservative parody. It's amazing. At least Bill O'Reilly puts a modicum of effort into making his audience believe he's earnest.
A. Coulter Ahmedinejad, the wealthy witless wonder from New Canaan Connecticut and Palm Beach Florida, like most Republican Christians, has clearly not read far enough to discover that the rich, like her, have about a much chance of getting into heaven as a camel does through the eye of a needle. We have that on the very best authority in such matters – God Himself, if one believes Christian doctrine.
According to the Pope, there is no salvation outside the bosom of the Romish Church. That's doctrine for you.

She also missed the fact that Islam is the perfection, according to believers, of Judaism and Christianity.
I am sure the imams and Ayatollahs pray for her conversion daily. She definitely belongs in their camp.
I have studied theology, and what is interesting to me is that Ms. Coulter did not technically say anything factually WRONG when it comes to traditional Christian/Catholic theology. Christians do believe that they have something extra over all other faiths, and if they didn't believe that, people would have no reason to convert...but many people do it voluntarily. Any person who identifies themselves as a Christian is saying that they have a preference for Christianity over Judiasm, Islam, Buddism, etc. People came to this country, partly for religious freedom. Members of organized religions around the world try to spread their message and encourage others to consider converting because they think they have something positive to offer....that is just what religion is. If Donny didn't want to engage in that kind of discussion and acknowledge that reality, he should not have brought it up. Many people don't talk about religion because of the obvious sensitivities. However, I will say that Ann's manner of communicating and clumsy choice of words can be a problem too. She tends to communicate very bluntly, and I think that someone else could have said the same exact thing, without compromising their beliefs, with a lot more diplomacy, sensitivity and refinement, and there would be no outrage. Donny could have been a little more understanding as well though and not been so quick with his assessment.
First, I'd like to thank Ann for her insight. NOW I know what I've been missing my whole life as a Jew. Guess I'm stuck with going to hell. I'll see her there, I guess!
