WMUR: Costumed candidate first to file in New Hampshire

Secretary of State Bill Gardner, left, listens as Robert Haines speaks before filing as a candidate in New Hampshire Monday.

New Hampshire's WMUR-TV reports that on the first day candidates could officially file for the Granite State's presidential primary, some threw their hats - and much more - into the ring.

The first candidate to show in person at the secretary of state's office Monday morning was Robert Haines, WMUR reports, who put on a one-man show. Haines had several costume changes and played various characters before submitting his paperwork and announcing his platform.

What a bizarre photo! Andrea the giant (playing Grizzly Adams) with a cojoined twin?

They both look like cartoon characters from a Simpson's episode. I hope this is a joke as funny as said Simpson's reliably are.

When CNN is looking for Fred Thomson elsewhere, here he is in NH, successfully disguised thanks to the handiwork of his Hollywood make-up artist.

Mr. Haines is a local candidate in NH, running for President. I met him in August, at the Strafford County Straw Poll in NH.

I am not trying to be insulting, but the man has real mental issues. I think he's not even sane. He told me that he captured Osama bin Laden when Clinton was in office.

After the Sept. 5th Fox debate in NH, I was walking back to my car with some friends and this man, Mr. Haines was driving around the parking lot trying to talk to people and say that he was denied from the debate and that he had even tried to enter with a press pass and was thrown out. He told my friend the same story about him catching Osama.

Mr. Haines also made several slanderous remarks against the New Hampshire GOP.

No one should take this insane man seriously. He belongs in a mental ward.
