Cheney to receive treatment for irregular heartbeat

Cheney is set to undergo a heart procedure Monday afternoon.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo a heart procedure Monday afternoon after doctors discovered an irregular heartbeat, his office announced.

Cheney was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat, when he visited his doctor Monday morning complaining of a lingering cough after a cold. It was then that the arrhythmia was diagnosed, the vice president's office reported.

Doctors described the procedure - intended to shock the heart back into normal rhythm - as routine, and said they expect the vice president to return to his residence Monday night.

The 66-year-old vice president has had a history of heart ailments - including four heart attacks dating back to 1978 - and was briefly hospitalized in January 2006 after suffering shortness of breath.

The best part of this story was seeing the headline "Cheney having heart procedure" filed under "Ticker."

He no more has a heart than the soul he sold for oil. It is more likely his liver ravaged from decades of untreated alcholism. The story is from his press office, when was the last time they told the truth about anything? I cannot remeber that long ago. Can any one remeber the last time?

I hear waterboarding does wonders for heart problems. Tell the sob to give it a try.

Gosh people i get he is not liked but some of these comments are sick! You wish something will go wrong? I don't care what he has done he does not deserve that....imagine if it was you or someone close to you and someone said that. Think of the pain and anger you would feel. I don't like him but i hope all is okay.

We might not see a single positive comment on this subject. Even the President doesn't like him! He might be the most hated individual on earth

Black Hills – I had the same procedure and there is no way a doctor in an ER would not admit you to be cardioverted back. Plain and simple you are a not telling the truth.

By the way, I can't believe that CNN would post message wishing the VP to die, completely disgracefull!!!

Why would anyone think his heartbeat would be regular? His heart isn't regular. Maybe the news that he has a heart will make him a nicer person. I don't like him, but I hope he'll be OK.

Something is amiss The vice President has a defibrillator in him now. This will prevent any atrail fibullations problems Could the story really be that if he has a Medtronic defibrillator in his chest it is one of the newly discoved 268 thousand implanted in patients that have a faulty Fidelis lead. And have caused some deaths. The full story can be read at leads

No malice in this just fact. When I have the same symtoms I am told to take an aspirin and relax to see if it gets better. My medical inurance has a 3000 dollar deductable and I am 12 dollars an hour. I work a job and a half to make ends meet. No malice just wondering what is wrong

He is the Vice President of The United States.

    And you are?

    Shame on you!

You may not like the man or his policies, but you should not wish something to go wrong to him. Like it or not, he is the Vice President of this country, and he was voted in by the people of this country.

I'm sure he'll find a way to get a "deferment" on death, just as he did 5 times on military service.

Doctors, after six year exploratory mission, have determined that, in fact, Vice President Cheney is human after all! He has a heart! And it's beating! (irregularly, but beating!)

Can you just smell Cheney stepping down and Bush putting in a 1-year Republican Vice President (Condi) who could later run for President?

The problem with their plan of Cheney stepping down in the 2nd term of Bush's administration is there is NO clear Republican front runner to install as a puppet Vice President!

Vice President (Of Torture) Cheney's heart problem (as well as all the out-of-touch Republicans' heart problem) is that he doesn't have one.
