Clinton nabs Babs

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (CNN) - Sen. Hillary Clinton got a boost from a Hollywood legend Tuesday, in the form of an endorsement by noted actress and singer Barbara Streisand.

Streisand, a longtime Democratic activist, cited the historic nature of the New York senator's campaign, and her ability to bring about change, as reasons for giving her endorsement.

"Madame President of the United States...it’s an extraordinary thought," Streisand said in a press release. "We truly are in a momentous time, where a woman’s potential has no limitations, Hillary Clinton has already proven to a generation of women that there are no limits for success."

Streisand also said "our country will gain its respect within the global community," under a Clinton presidency.

Thank you Ms. Streisand. We knew you would be intelligent enough to vote for a person not for gender not for race but because of Ms. Clinton's ability. Thank you.

If Clinton were actually running on something she accomplished instead of Bill's presidencey her candidacy wouldnt't be such a joke.

With all the Clinton scandals, how can anyone think that she would garner any respect from the global community.

This just proves that Streisand is the idiot I'd come to think she was. The key word is "activist" of course. She's got to do something now that she won't be able to sing to make people miserable.

Well, now that this so smart genius is endorsing her I will change my vote.

With her on Hilary's side, she may actually win by a "nose".

Maybe have some more concerts with $500 tickets (for the common folk) and then have NOBODY show up again.

    Can't wait.

"Memory, it's so easy to hate you"...

We ware all waiting to see who Hillary’s response to Oprah was going to be. So WHAT! Didn’t Babs go for Dean also? Not surprising, Barbara S. is doing this for Bill, just like many of Hillary’s older voters are for Hillary. Cause of Bill. You do NOT vote for a President because of their spouse. If their spouse should become ill you would be stuck with 4 years of “If I knew then what I know now”. Vote for the person running as that will be the person making decisions for all of us.

CLinton also held on to first place in a new Iowa poll, though she is now tied with Obama... The GOP race is also all tied up.

Monte – we are together on this. I jumped off my chair with excitment when I read this. Not that I am surprised. I knew Streisand would pick Clinton. I KNEW it. She is not about anything other than who can do the best for our country.

Streisand is one of the few people I give a pass to because she's got the greatest voice and interpretation of songs. But she's an elitist and has a nasty demeanor when discussing politics. She and Oprah can do whatever they want, but why do people think they can relate to the everyday person? Oprah can't even pump gas, she's so insulated from real life she doesn't even know what the gas nozzle is or how to operate it.

p.s. I like how you call Babs a "noted actress". She's an institution – she's her own category of entertainer that 's how legendary she is.

The fact that Barbara and I support the same candidate–isn't my best moment. Truthfully, I would rather have Chuck Norris for Hillary. I like him, and we were both in the Air Force at one time. But what the heck! Welcome aboard Barbara...don't catch your dress in the car door.

There is talk about the impact that Oprah will have on the Obama campaign. I can tell ya that Babs is gonna hurt Clinton, maybe unfairly, but Oprah has a timeless quality and a lot of people see Barbara as old news and she is seen as, dare I say, shrill by some. Shrill doesn't help shrill, Hill.

I like Hillary And Obama! I only wish they would stop listening to the media and stop fighting.. Somewhere down the line at least one of them will need the other. If some of the negative comments on this article were made by DEMS, shame on you..we need each other..

To all who are excited about the all the celebrity endorsements, they only get to vote just once, just like me! This all means very little unless you are slighty more robot than human!
