ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (CNN) - Sen. Hillary Clinton got a boost from a Hollywood legend Tuesday, in the form of an endorsement by noted actress and singer Barbara Streisand.
Streisand, a longtime Democratic activist, cited the historic nature of the New York senator's campaign, and her ability to bring about change, as reasons for giving her endorsement.
"Madame President of the United States...it’s an extraordinary thought," Streisand said in a press release. "We truly are in a momentous time, where a woman’s potential has no limitations, Hillary Clinton has already proven to a generation of women that there are no limits for success."
Streisand also said "our country will gain its respect within the global community," under a Clinton presidency.

Is a Streisand indorsement as good as a peck on the cheek from good ole boy Jesse ole Al?
My guess is Miss Honkers wins!
"So explain the difference between people voting for Clinton because of Bill and people voting for Obama because of Oprah?"
IN A WORD? INTEGRITY...Oprah's got it in aces!!!!!
With campaign endorsements like Streisand, who needs scandals ...errr enemies. The great thing of it is is that Oprah brings many from the middle to Obama. Streisand is a highly partisan polarizer. She brings no one that Shrill didn't already have, and drives the rest away.
Barbara Streisand is a legend, and she beats Oprah easily in my book.
Hillary 08.
"She's no Oprah.

Of course not. Streisand has talent. Oprah is a money maker.
Yeah right – INTEGRITY…Oprah's got it in aces!!!!! She threw out that the window when she decided to play this game. And, we all know what game that is. Shame.
Sad...really sad.
Still trying to play catch-up Hillary.
Try again...
Barbara's endorsement of Hillary Clinton takes the breath out of Oprah and Obama. Barbara has been a legend in the entertainment industry for decades, and Oprah pales in comparing to her.
Yes...she's no Oprah, she's accomplished more than Oprah ever thought of....I for one am sick of Oprah.
Clebrities are not politicians, there are as full of crap and as mindless as anyone else, I am tired of these liberal celebrities lending their name to campaigns. Some did not even finish high school (Sean Penn) so why listen to anyhting that comes out of their mouth. Make your own decisions based on your ideas, don't be swayed because you liked their last movie or song, morons!
Ooooooooh! Barbara Streisand! A serious political advisor to be sure! I know I'm going to cast my ballot based upon the opinions of a star like "Babs"!
She's no Oprah.

Nothing wrong with making money, its still the american way and the american dream, oprah is sincere, honest, down-to-earth and generous, so while i may not vote for obama based on what oprah thinks, i will surely be listening and giving her the time of day, oprah we love you and all you do for people!
We believe Barbra Steisand's voice is indeed a gift from above. However, when it comes to politics, the same cannot be said. We have a saying around here: "Wait to see who Barbra endorses and then RUN the other way." She can pick music but unfortunately, she isn't inspired about picking candidates.
Gee ...give me a break.
Talk about Keeping up with "The Jones's"...
How can we take any of these "Fools" seriously. REALLY?
A Clinton presidency would erase someof the hatred and rancor generated by Pres. Bush. The Clinton scandal was
fanned into a larger one by Republicans and the media,
while the scandals of the Bush administration, which are greater and
more harmful to the nation, have got a
do pass from fellow Republicans and the media. Go figure.
Our friends overseas had no trouble
discerning this, hence former Pres.
Clinton receives more respect and adulation from them than does the present president.
If Pres. Bush had surrounded himself with those other than the neocons and
those who were in total agreement with him/them, we would not be in the predicament we are in today. Those whom the president chooses in his/her administration should be chosen for their abilities, not their financial or other support.
We need to hear more about solutions and less bad-mouthing.
Talk about being divisive! YOU LIBERALS are even fighting over Babs vs. Oprah ! Fools
How many of you actually change your vote because some celebrity endorses a candidate? Are you so incapable of making up your own mind that someone else has to do it for you?
unless you are as old as dirt this means nothing. nobody cares about babs or streisand or whatever she is called. A legend? not hardly even only being 35 I have never cared about her songs or anything else, to half of the voting population she is only a name that a lot of people used to know.
IN A WORD? INTEGRITY…Oprah's got it in aces?! I beg to differ. Oprah lost her integrity when she started to play this game. And, we all know what game that is. You can't compare Oprah to Barbara – there is no comparsion. So it goes w/out saying that "Oprah is NO Barbara."
How is this news?????Oh yea CNN seems to think that idiotic uneducated backstabbing traitors are somehow important endorsements....CNN you partisian ways are so transparent.
Streisand supporting Clinton. What a surprise. The only ones who will be impressed by this are other left-wingers. Barb, you can sing, but your politics stink, and they always have.
I will take great solace knowing that my one vote cancels out this over blown and overrated diva's vote.
How did those $500 and $1000 tickets sell your last tour (the ones for the "common folk")?
Say goodnight and goodbye "babs".
Streisand trumps Oprah; Hillary trumps Obama. Two bright, talented women as opposed to an empty-suit and a TV talk show hostess.
Wasn't she popular back in the 70's. I think she was the one with the big nose, the big mouth and the pretty voice.
I do not think this should be war of the endorements but if it is, Obama scored big time. Hillary,um not so much!
