Lawmakers upset over reports of sex, shoplifting by pages

The House page program came under scrutiny after the Mark Foley scandal last year.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A lawmaker who resigned from the board that oversees Capitol Hill pages said one parent suggested lax supervision led to "kids gone wild."

Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Florida, Friday said she resigned because she was angered to learn that two pages had oral sex in public areas of the their Capitol Hill dorm. The pages were dismissed from the program, but Brown-Waite said the incident is an example of lax supervision of the teens.

"It wasn't kissing and hugging - let me put it that way," Brown-Waite said. "It did go beyond that, there were not only a young male and female involved, but there were also observers and other page participants who were, let's say, enablers."

"This had been going on for months," she said. "Almost all of the pages knew about it."

No members of Congress were involved, Brown-Waite said.

So,,an apprentice program for congressional pages to help them slide right into a life in politics.

    Capital idea! (pun intended)

Maybe this way they will be making stupid political moves right from the very first day in office.

Hmm, I wonder where they got the idea that having oral sex on Government property is a perfectly acceptable thing to do??

And people want to bring Bill Clinton back to the White House. How much lower can he teach us to go?

The Capital of the world? These conservative and formal settings seem to create impulsive, overly competitive, sociopaths. Staying bottled up and proper all the time, these kids explode, when given an opportunity. You see it in the upper classes because they've never been able to go "a little bit wild." I've had some girlfriends that were sheltered from the real world, by mommy and daddy , and never allowed to "sow their oats", so at eighteen their over-sexed, with no inhibitions. Worked out great for me.

Yeah, what a surprise with such great role models like Craig, Vitter, Foley etc., etc., ect.

Who do these pages think they are, Republican Congressmen?

kids just following their leaders. Reading about members of Congress (both parties) reminds me of stories of Rome during its heyday where they did whatever they wanted and had complete contempt for all around them. Moral leadership? Not from those clowns.

Lazy-Irresponsibility of law makers & law breakers in US government is typical. This news isn't surprising...what do US citizens expect. There are drug addicts, alchoholics, liars.....walking the halls of Congress & the White House. Again, what do Americans expect.

The lawmakers are 100% correct. Wild sex and thievery should be only be practiced by the members of Congress, not the pages.
