Huckabee shakes up GOP race in South Carolina

A new poll shows Huckabee winning in South Carolina.

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (CNN) - It's official: Huck-mentum has arrived in the Palmetto State.

In the course of just a few weeks, Mike Huckabee has capitalized on his Iowa surge and roared to the front of the Republican pack in South Carolina, largely on the strength of social conservatives frustrated with the current crop of candidates.

"We've been on the stove simmering for about 11 months," Huckabee said at a rally in Greenville on Saturday. "Somehow in the last two weeks, the lid blew off and the pot started boiling."

A month ago, Huckabee was fifth in South Carolina polls. Now, according to a new Mason-Dixon poll conducted in the state, Huckabee comes in at 20 percent, putting him in first place with a narrow lead over former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who comes in at 17 percent.

    To the Evangelical/freak/facist community,

Here he is: Mike Huckabee, complete with an oh-so-valuable endorsement from Chuck Norris! He also comes equipped with an education that is only pertinent to being a Evangelical/freak/facist pastor. He is very pious, very ignorant and very dangerous. All the things that you hold so dear! So, please, throw all your support his way! It's about time that you get what you deserve, don't you think! Your delusions and idiotic priorities are finally catching up with you, aren't they? If you want a Republican president, the best chance you have after these eight years of hellish ignorance, is Rudy. Why? Because he's a moderate, that's why. This yahoo will completely lose the middle ground in this race and you will be marginalized again. Now THAT is what you truly deserve, you hypocrite, hate-mongering, holier-than-thou idiots!

    Sincerely,

    Carson

Huckabee has the lowest level of education out of all the candidates Republican or Democrat. We need an educated person as our president.

Since when does the level of education someone has matter? Are you saying that just because someone didn't graduate from Harvard etc, they can't be President. Sorry to tell you, but not everyone can afford stuff like that. So I guess there goes the idea that ANYONE can be President. Apparently now only the upperclass can now.
I understand its important to have education, but just because someone didn't go to Harvard doesn't mean they can't be smart enought to rum for President

When Huck had said people with AIDS should be isolated or quarantined, he was NOT basing his opinion on known facts at the time, as he has explained that statement now. In 1992 it was KNOWN that HIV could be spread casualy, only through intimate contact, shared needles or blood transfusions. This was known quite some time before his statement. I suspect that he did feel that AIDS was punishment for homosexuality and that justified their isolation. Wonder if he knows now that heterosexual transmission of AIDS is rapidly increasing?
    Shame on you Huckabee.
This man can't be taken seriously

See http://www.arkansasfreedom.com for documents proving Huckabee defied the Constitution by going to Mexico to cut a deal with Vicente Fox to bring a Mexican Consulate to Little Rock, Arkansas, subsidized by American citizen taxpayers, in order to give Matricula Consular cards to illegals and attract more cheap slave labor for the poultry and other industries, as well as government programs such as Arkids 1st , Prenatal care, and tried to give illegals in-state tuition & scholarships. All of which is subsidized by taxpayers, including education and scores of benefits. This is his biggest lie yet.

Then there is the matter of Huckabee’s illegal Mexican Consulate in Little Rock. In defiance of Article 1, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution which forbids states making deals with foreign entities, he traveled to Mexico to broker a deal for a Consulate which acts as a clearing house for illegal Mexicans. Then he used taxpayer money to subsidize it. In just 6 months, they already can’t keep up with numbers of illegals seeking Matricula Consular I.D. cards, which aren’t even accepted on their own by the Mexican government…but accepted by all sorts of U.S. predator businesses/agencies greedy for every buck they can squeeze, regardless of the consequences to the country or our citizens.

Huckabee is not what he is pretending to be.

I like Mike, seems more honest than the others running.
Some of the dumbest people i know are well educated, 7 out of 10 millionaires did not finish high school. Bill Gates is a college dropout.
Its time for a regular person to be in charge.

It's funny how the religious right don't even see how much they have in common with the Taliban and Al Quida.

All are fanatics that want a religious based government to dictate people's lives.

On top of that, we don't need another stay the course in Iraq while we drive up the national debt president.
