Bill Clinton: George H.W. Bush will help President Hillary

Bill Clinton said former president George H.W. Bush will help fix damage done to America's reputation by his son, George W. Bush.

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) - Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president - Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H. W. Bush said Tuesday afternoon the former president supports his son's foreign policy and has "never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton." (Click here for the full statement)

Clinton and the elder Bush, rivals in the 1992 presidential election, have grown chummy in recent years, often traveling and appearing at public events together. In 2005, they started a charity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton's comments:

"In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe," said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. "The American people expect our leaders - both current and former - to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation."

- CNN South Carolina Producer Peter Hamby

Both Clintons are idiots. Trust me....we do NOT need another liberal in charge of anything. Just look at the fine job the Congress is doing. What a joke. Liberalism.....the last great bastion of ignorance!

Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that will offer real change and a positive new direction for America. He is the only candidate that is NOT a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR is controlled by the Rockefeller family. Their international banking interests control our economy and all the political decisions that effect your every day life. Life in the USA does not have to be so hard!

The Clintons and Bush's are inbusiness together, and their monarchy is part of a long term agenda in place since Bush senior was director of the CIA back when Kennedy was assasinated...

    Vote Ron Paul!

He is not 'radical' as some would have you believe, he is the only candidate that wants big government to let people live their lives in peace!

Hillary just lost my vote, now we know she's in bed with corporate corruption, unless Bill is deliberately trying to sabotage her campaign... who to vote for now? Obama, Kucinich, Dodd, Biden, Edwards...hard to choose, they're all good...I respect Pentagon Paper Gravel but he can't win...and I hope Ron Paul gets lots of votes on the other side.

Marvene, honey, I spend a great deal of time watching MSNBC everyday (love the combo of Chris Matthews, Dan Abrams, and Keith Oberman), and they aren't too kind to your sister Hil-dog either. Maybe you need to do a little investigating into a term you've been hearing on CNN a lot lately (and will be hearing on MSNBC as well): Politics of Destruction. Hillary is bad news when it comes to politics. I'll "Amen" the Edwards/Obama supporter from Minnesota.

*IF* Hillary is elected, she'll need all the clout she can pull together to rebuild this country's reputation.

I can see Bush-41 doing that. Even he must see that things are not looking good for the United States right now on the world stage. After all, he's not the stupid one, that's Dubya.

But for heaven's sake, Hillary...just don't send him to China. He'll puke all over somebody and start WWIII. 🙂

ME ME ME...It's All about ME Bill!!! The first thing Hillary WILL DO AS PRESIDENT is to use ME !!!! I bet GHWB doesn't even know about this.
ANYONE who thinks the country won't stay torn apart with Hillary in office is crazy. IS THAT WHAT WE NEED? She IS NOT GOING TO UNITE ANYTHING. And as far as this story goes, HE HAS TO BE PRESSED on it...where did it come from? ARE WE TO BELIEVE GHWB has agreed to go around the world to bad mouth his son? I think THIS IS ANOTHER CLINTON LIE!!!

QUESTION TO PRESIDENT CLINTON "Hey Bill, why do many of your former foreign policy advisors back Obama over your wife?"

ANSWER: "Probably because they've been out of a job for so long that they've run out of unemployment - and Hillary wants all fresh new faces."

Bill's over-inflated ego just won't let him stay out of the picture. Him shooting his mouth off all over the place makes him Hillary's biggest liability. Keep talking Bill!
God help us if we have a Clinton/Clinton presidency again!

The reason people don't like Hillary is that she's a COMMUNIST. If GHW Bush is willing to help her, that goes a long way toward supporting the contention that we've been snookered by a stealth liberal the past 8 years.

What has Hillary accomplished as a Senator that shows she is capable of being president? I'm not a Hillary hater but I don't see how she is qualified for the position.

Thanks for the info Bill, Hilary just LOST MY VOTE! I agree someone needs to try to undo what this president has done to our nation and the world but to send another BUSH out there to speak and represent the United States of America on this issue is a big mistake in my opinion. Maybe she should send him to the broccoli farmers to try to erase that memory of that while she is at it! I dont think anyone can correct the damage this president has done to our reputation, its all part of our history sad.
