Bill Clinton: George H.W. Bush will help President Hillary

Bill Clinton said former president George H.W. Bush will help fix damage done to America's reputation by his son, George W. Bush.

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) - Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president - Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H. W. Bush said Tuesday afternoon the former president supports his son's foreign policy and has "never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton." (Click here for the full statement)

Clinton and the elder Bush, rivals in the 1992 presidential election, have grown chummy in recent years, often traveling and appearing at public events together. In 2005, they started a charity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton's comments:

"In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe," said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. "The American people expect our leaders - both current and former - to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation."

- CNN South Carolina Producer Peter Hamby

I wish the Clintons no ill will, but they need to go away, just go away forever. I want their hands out of my pockets and their faces off everything.

Rugged individualism and free markets are what America is all about. They want the Nanny state. They would oversee the fall of the America.

Boy Clinton "thinks" that after the 2008 presidential election, George H.W. Bush will travel with Boy Clinton to suck up to every America hating terrorist group and every America hating, terrorist loving "leader" in the world? Someone may want to inform Boy Clinton that his "wife" won't even win the Democrat party nomination and that George H.W. Bush will not be traveling with Boy Clinton to suck up to every America hating kook on the planet.

Well this takes the biscuit. This article just made my day. I cannot wait to see the justification of this. I am actually starting to feel a bit badly for how badly these clowns are doing. It is surely a spectacle.

With the Clintons, you can bet your sweet wallet that America will indeed be "open for business" again. Step right up! Get your missile secrets right here! Buy one, get one free!

Can we please have someone in the White House, P or VP, who is NOT named Bush or Clinton for the first time since 1980?

This is interesting to say the least. We have two former Presidents, who both at various times in our history where involved, one way or another in trafficking cocaine.

They are now uniting in a bipartisan effort to actually accomplish something productive without using their combined power and authority to profit off the illegal drug trade, manhandle female reporters, or get hum jobs from fat girls in the oval office. Now that my friends is real political progress.

That said, I believe that adequate caution should be taken to insure that these two very creative and cunning criminal minds do not use their persuasive talents to further erode the principles of liberty and freedom within this sovereign republic of America.

Great. When Bill was in office we had the first lady trying to single-handedly revamp our health care system behind closed doors. Now we learn that if elected, husband Bill wants to become de fact Sec of State and he's trying to get a few votes for HRC by dropping golf buddy George Sr's name without his knowledge or approval. How exactly is Bill's traveling around the world hitting on other people's wives going to help the US cause?

If we really do want change (it's sure needed) why don't we wise up and put a fresh mind in the White House in 08. Keep the Bushes and Clintons as far away from the front door as possible. Not because Hillary is a women - because she is the same old same old BS. On the other hand put her in the White House to get her out of NY. All she has offered as a Senator is a bunch of unfulfilled promises with little beneficial action for upstate New York.

More silly made up fodder from President Clinton. Seems like the more he fantasizes out loud, the steeper the hill(no pun intended) gets for Ms. Hillary. I say GOOD!

Maybe President Hillary could use George H to promote birth control. All he has to say is "I didn't use it, and look what happened." Other than that, we really don't need the old codger running around apologising for the last 8 years.

If this story is true, then GHW Bush the daddy could be considered a turn coat to his own son. Politics aside, I cant accept a father turning on his own son and agreeing with his enemies. Judas?

If Bush the elder had finished the job in Desert Storm we would not be back in Iraq now. If Clinton had done anything constructive for our security 9/11 would probably have been prevented. We need a president who will put the welfare of our republic first, but with 48 million abortions done in our country since 1973 I doubt we are going to escape judgement.

I don't think the way Pres. Clinton referred to "damage done by President GWB" will set well with the father. Its no doubt that the Senior Bush is a great Ambassador for this country. I am not one to think there is very much damage to repair. I have not seen this on the morning shows, but then they usually run a day behind Drudge.

Consider this. Bush has betrayed us.

    He has:

    1. Sold us out to the World Economy.
    2. Allowed our means of production to be transfered primarily to China.
    3. Takes the side of Mexico and other countries over us just for cheap labor. The citizens of Mexico are a Mexican problem NOT OURS.
    4. REFUSED to fix Social Security
    5. REFUSED to address Heath Care
    6. Sounds like a moron and most likely is.
    7. REFUSED to address our energy dependence.

    Here is what will happen.

Once the American People realize they are screwed and there is no way to get back our former dominance and wreath they will go after everyone they can that means the far left and the far right. There will be no safety for anyone. The environmentalists who have blocked every energy production method will be held responsible. The free trade people who promoted the World Economy at the expense of the USA will be held accountable. And on and on it will go when the cross and flag rule.

There is nothing Clinton or Bush or any of others can do to stop what is happening to our county.

People you have screwed yourselves big time and you don't even know it.

The only people who think America's reputation is ruined are the Democrats. I travel the world. America is the least corrupt of all of them. You people who have never left the U.S. don't know too much about the rest of the world.

It is humorous to me when people will talk about how they hate G.W., but will end their comment with "Go Hillary" or something similar. If we have another Clinton in the white house it will be worse than G.W. and Clinton's years in office combined.

Are you kidding me? Where were your complaints when ALL of the media was busy annointing Hillary our new queen for the last year?

NOTHING is being said about Hillary's travel-gate, staff suicides, cheating cover-ups, refusal to release her whitehouse correspondences.

She is getting a free pass from the media. But the republicans are just waiting for her to become the nominee. . .

Bill is so full of it it's ridiculous. We're supposed to believe George H.W. is eager to help "restore America's image" after his son leaves office? He's going to go on a big worldwide tour highlighting what a crappy president his son was? COme on!

I'm sick to death of two families running this country Bush/Clinton...

It's time for a change! Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who filters every decision he makes through the U.S. Constitution.

Everyone else just bows to those with money/power!

Ron Paul is America's hope, if we ever want to take our country back from the special interest groups who have run this once great nation into the ground.
