The Clinton campaign is aiming to show a softer side of the New York senator.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Democrat Hillary Clinton got visibly emotional at an Iowa campaign event Monday morning designed to showcase a softer side of the New York senator.
Flanked by childhood friends and constituents who each offered testimonials on the Democratic presidential candidate, a glassy-eyed Clinton spoke noticeably softer than most past appearances on the stump.
"It is very exciting for me to have so many of my friends from my entire life who have come out here, to talk with Iowans, to answer questions, to give you some insight and information about our relationships, about what I've been trying to do my entire life, and particularly as an adult," Clinton said at a campaign event in Johnston, Iowa Monday.
"What I try to do every day is figure out how to help somebody,” she said later in the event. “You can try to help somebody every single day, and I’ve tried to do that as a public servant, as an activist, and now as a senator."
The event coincides with a new campaign Web site - www.TheHillaryIKnow.com - that includes videos for several friends, colleagues, and constituents of Clinton's speaking on her behalf.
The event and Web site are all part of an effort to convey a softer image of Clinton, as polls continue to indicate Democratic primary voters view her as less likeable and more like a "typical politician" than her chief rival, Barack Obama.
A spokesperson told CNN the site will help round out what caucus-goers don’t know about Clinton. “You want voters to have the fullest portrait of your candidate possible when Election Day comes around and that’s what you’re seeing us doing right now.”
The surrogates from the Web site will be fanning out across Iowa and telling their stories over the next three days on Clinton's "Every Caucus Counts Tour."

Lol... This is hilarious!
C'mon Hillary, not the tears.
"What I try to do every day is figure out how to help somebody,” she said later in the event...
Then she needs to talk to her campaign manager so she can help him, help her because this is starting to get embarrassing.

For the posters who can not even show some type of respect or appreciation for the friends one has, is a very lowly lot of people.
This just tells me that those posters are a sad, sad group. They are mean and hateful. I feel sorry for their friends and family because it appears they have no compassion, warmth, or any positivity about them. And, this is what America has become to a large degree.
It now appears that it is just hate Hillary ad nauseaum and it is very old and tiresome, pityful and disheartening.
In March of 1992, just one day before the Super Tuesday primaries, Hillary Clinton angrily said on national television "I supposed I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but I decided to fufill my career..."
I think that was the "real" Hillary Clinton.
Oh no, we got a "weeper" or is it crocodile tears. Ok, Hillacopter, you can turn off the waterworks now, no one's watching.
What will be amusing is when She wins the Iowa caucus. As a democrat I like how tough the Clintons are. The Republicans on this blog (see the previous posts) are actually afraid of CLinton. They dream about an Obama nomination.
You've got to be kidding! There is NOTHING she won't do. Now she wants to show a "soft " side., her with a tear? She couldn't tear up with mace. It's hard to understand just how stupid hilly-billy think you guys are. and you fall for it. She'd stub her toe to get a tear if needed or pull a hair from her nose, that always gets a tear. Wake up libs before it's too late.
Fake, fake fake!
I wonder if this is the same type of "emotion" Bill expressed at Ron Brown's funeral where the camera caught him laughing then he saw the camera and quickly wiped a "tear" from his eye.
She's learned from the greatest politician of the past 100 years!
This is exactly why Hillary won't win this election. When was the last time anyone witnessed a presidential candidate cry? A softer side of Hillary, after this, she's already milk toast.
OMG
What a fraud she is! Give me a break...real tears. She can be anything you want her to be for about a minute.
Obama 08
Lol… This is hilarious!
C'mon Hillary, not the tears.
"What I try to do every day is figure out how to help somebody,” she said later in the event…

WOW what a joke. Does she ever do anything that's not completely contrived?
Sorry, Hil, you're still not passing the smell test. Keep tryin'!
The voters have to face the reality that an uncomfortably high number of fanatical and unstable individuals have the very deepest hatred for the former first lady.

Can you read "bobby", The event and Web site are all part of an effort to convey a softer image of Clinton, as polls continue to indicate Democratic primary voters view her as less likeable and more like a "typical politician" than her chief rival, Barack Obama.
Typical of Clintonista sheep, she is "forced" to make an "effort" to appear that she is something that she is not, and as usual, Clintonista's blame the smart people that can read and see right through this charade.
As for "fanatical and unstable" individuals, you just described the "herd" perfectly.
Chelsea has always been off limits in campaigns (THEIR WORDS) and now bringing out her and her Mother didn't give them the bump needed so how about some croc tears.
No using "the gender card" going on here.............
"She is human and has a heart".
=============
She is? Are YOU sure?
Now in this scene we want to show the voters how lovable you are – and...ACTION!!!!!
The best song I could think of which describes how well Hillary is courting Iowans is the following.
"Open the door and come on in
I'm so glad to see you my friend
You're like a rainbow coming around the bend
And when I see you smiling
Well, it sets my heart free
I'd like to be as good a friend to you
as you are to me." -Words by Judy Collins
GO HILLARY 2008.
I wonder if meathead wrote this script too..
After Bill Clinton's remark to Charlie Rose in reagard to experience, during the interview last Friday: "... being a president is a lot like being a thousand-dollar-a night call girl, Charlie" – I am really confused and distubed.
Can anybody explain to me what he meant?
All over the world for a woman's intelligence and smartness is undervalued by society in different ways. Hillary suffers same reason. It's not she doesn't has soft side; matriarchal society hates women who tend to be strong.
Hillary is 200% times better than any democrat and republican but matters of her gender that's all.
Hillary for president'08!
Warning to all AMERICANS: Democrats, Independents, and Republicans; Run away from HILLARY! Run away from Hillary! Run away from Hillary!
Unite to make sure Hillary does not WIN for the sake of our lives and our future. Hillary is a pretender ready to unleash unbelieveable wreck on on nation to satisfy her ambition.
If you really love Bill Clinton prevent Hillary from winning the nomination then see what Hillary does. Bill will become a free man.
A word is enough for the wise.
She's not the devil, but having to actually put together a directed campaign effort along these lines is a sad commentary indeed.
She is a cold, calculating politician; there is nothing inherently good or bad in that; but to try to mask it like this obviously artificial manner shows she is not being well served by her advisors. Fred Thompson will never require such an effort; maybe he could give her lessons 🙂
Her campaign is obviously toast; only the 800+ super-delegates can save her now.
She's playing the "you can't say no to a crying woman" card...
"What I try to do every day is figure out how to help somebody,”
She will give us bigger government with more control over every aspect of your lives by using the emotional tactic of "doing good" for everyone.
Try every day to help someone? Not ALL or EVERYONE, but someone. Don't think that someone is Hillary now do you?
She is toast and everyone knows it.
So far she has no platform to run on.
The Democrats have much more to offer than a remake of the Clinton Years and there special interest.
Middle class America will be represented by the next President of the USA!
Independant just like Lou Dobbs!!
