Elder Bush nixes Clinton trip idea

Bill Clinton said Monday he and former President Bush would go on a diplomatic mission if Hillary Clinton became president.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former President George H.W. Bush has shot down his successor Bill Clinton’s idea of a diplomatic mission under a Hillary Clinton presidency that would send him and other notables abroad to assure other nations that “America is open for business and cooperation again.”

The move came one day after Bill Clinton made the suggestion on the campaign trail in South Carolina, in response to a question from a supporter about his wife’s “number-one priority” upon reaching the White House.

In a statement sent to CNN Tuesday afternoon, former President Bush’s chief of staff Jean Becker said that he “wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.

“President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for president, and looks forward to discussing their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.”

–CNN's Rebecca Sinderbrand

Is there any clearer evidence than this latest bungle by Bill that he wants to be co-president with Hillary? Why in world isn't Hillary the one to say what the first thing she'll do as President is? The Clintons are so second rate, it's embarrassing. Enough already!

Having CHillary as Prez is absolutely chilling. This is a woman with zero moral compass, with such an overwhelming passion for power that she remains wed to a serial philanderer, with a stated intent to pass a scamnesty bill for the millions upon millions of illegal alien invaders (and that, of course, will allow them the drivers' licenses that she NOW claims she will deny them as 'illegals'), with the intent to turn the independent USA into a socialist version of Cuba, and with an absolute aversion for telling the truth. And besides all these terminal flaws, hasn't she – as "co-president" already served and can't be "re-elected"?

What about the image of America when Bubba Bill "didn't have sexual relationship with that woman?"

It was disgusting ... I need to take a shower ...

The idea of a Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton dynasty is unimaginable. When did we become a monarchy? This may be unconstitutional. Two terms then passed on to the wife? The wife (Hillary) was in the White House during the first two terms and I must assume that since she claims that she is experienced from those years (why else is she not releasing her records) then she must have been the "co-president". Or maybe she's lying again; which would mean she has even less years experience than Obama's 10 years plus as an elected official. Then again, experience is not the issue, I'd take Barack's judgement over Hillary's anyday. When are we going to wake up and stop this!!!

I really enjoyed watching him on tv the other night. It's refreshing to see someone speaking off the cuff and not using cue cards like some kind of robot. Who cares what Bush Sr or otherwise thinks anymore anyway?

Man, yet another misstep for the Clinton campaign. I'm a Bill Clinton fan, but he's helping Hillary zero right now. I was surprised when he originally made the comment - pretty brazen, and it has turned around and bitten him. Not good.

I think the Slickster should go it alone and make the trip. There are so many YOUNG ladies he can meet and seduce all at tax payers expense like he did before. At the same time it would be a wonderful opportunity for "President" Hillary to back her moving van up to the White House filled with all the treasure and booty they pilfered from there when they were last evicted. American voters just can't be that stupid to enable such a clown show!

Am I the only one to see this as a setup by Clinton of the Bushes and Republicans? Clinton knew Bush 41 was going to defend his boy, but how in the world he can say his son is doing a great job and that he is happy about it is beyond me. He is nothing like his son but obviously blood has blinded him to the truth of the mess his son has created for the US and the world. By ignoring the facts he comes across as just another Republican, completely uninterested in doing the right thing which is to restore this country's standing and credibility in the world. This is just more evidence the Republicans need to be retired so that responsible, reasonable, competent individuals can heal, renew and govern this country.

I tried several times to write something. But I couldn't think of anything good about GB. How could anyone compare him to Bill Clinton is beyond me. GB has done more to hurt America than any person in US history. Clintons little scandel pales in comparison to GB. I would think daddy Bush would be willing to help this country in any way he could. But I guess he just doesn't want to see the mess his son has created.

Who decides what news is worthy to be written and shared with the public? The past story on this topic (about how Bush (Sr.) had supposedly agreed to travel with Bill Clinton on a “reconnaissance”-style mission to rebuild America’s name) was clearly a blatant lie intended to further bash the president of the United States while at the same time promoting the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. How can the already biased news sources maintain their viewers’ trust if they not only present information that highlights only one side of the issues but also broadcast reports that are so misquoted and full of misinformation that they border on deception. The dishonesty in today’s media is startling. The prevalence of mainstream news being used to push agendas causes accurately informed viewers to cringe at the carnage littering the mass media outlets in the name of free speech. How can the providers of such obviously erroneous news maintain any personal integrity for themselves or their trade?

Bill Clinton and his tricks, trying to please the voters with whichever way possible, thinking that voters are dumb. This should be headline, how many more false statements is this country going to digest from the clintons? It’s time for OBAMA. OBAMA 08!

These clintons have lots of guts, as we already knew!!
How amazing that the Bil would even talk about this without consulting with the First President Bush. By the way, they will not be at the White House anytime soon!

Bill Clinton couldn't stop lying if he tried. When he was president the World didn't like Americans any more than they do now. This is just a democrat lie they like to spread around like manure. Hillary might be liked by the Communists of the world since she is a Communist also.

Bush 41 knows that Bush 43 has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster as president. Anything his press people put out there merely obfuscates his true feelings.

I am confused as to why former president Clinton would make such a suggestion to include former president Bush. I always thought of Clinton as a brilliant man but if his wife were to become president and such a mission a reality, in the context of its objective, it would be an acknowledgment of bad government on the part of Bush's son. Bush the father would never undermine his son like that.

Better if they send former president Jimmy Carter. He is held in higher esteem by the rest of the world than Bush 41 or Bill Clinton. It is odd that Carter's own country doesn't have that view. Must be because he is an Evangelical Christian and a Democrat.

Of course the only two flies in the ointment is that: (1) Hillary needs to get the Democratic nomination and (2) she must win the general election.

    Hey JC –

"YIKES!!! What a load of crap! This shows EXACTLY why the Republicans are going to be ousted. They spew deceitful, malicious and outrageous propoganda BETTER than any of Hitlers experts EVER did." I agree, but the only difference is "WE AREN'T BUYING IT ANYMORE! Maybe there are a lot of "political types" on this thread but I'm just a normal young person and I can tell you that all of my friends are on to the lies. Bush has made the GOP a joke.

How rude is Bush 41! Bill Clinton helped his son out in the Katrina and India disaster projects, and Bush 41 does not reciprocate.

Well, when president hillary gets into office, just ignore these two bushes.
