Elder Bush nixes Clinton trip idea

Bill Clinton said Monday he and former President Bush would go on a diplomatic mission if Hillary Clinton became president.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former President George H.W. Bush has shot down his successor Bill Clinton’s idea of a diplomatic mission under a Hillary Clinton presidency that would send him and other notables abroad to assure other nations that “America is open for business and cooperation again.”

The move came one day after Bill Clinton made the suggestion on the campaign trail in South Carolina, in response to a question from a supporter about his wife’s “number-one priority” upon reaching the White House.

In a statement sent to CNN Tuesday afternoon, former President Bush’s chief of staff Jean Becker said that he “wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.

“President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for president, and looks forward to discussing their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.”

Bush Sr supports all of Bush Jr's foreign policies? Did he forget that at one point he said that for us to remove Saddam would be to open a hornet's nest and he was proven right?

This is no surprise. Father Bush has never been able to come to terms with his own failures, let alone the tragic failures of his son. Trying to repair the damage his son hath wrought would be admitting failure as a father and human being, and this will never happen. The entire Bush family lives in a world of delusion and denial.

Bill Clinton would be wise to cut all ties with the Bush family.

It appears that Bush Sr. also has his head up his, uh, in the sand. He should be very willing to help the Clintons repair the mess his son has made.

I am a Obama supporter, but a huge "Bill" Clinton fan. He slipped up by offering a glib answer. His biggest mistake was assuming HW Bush would actually return the "Katrina" favors as Bill helped pull Junior's arse out of the fire. But I'll bet you this: If the trip were to Saudi Arabia, or the UAE, daddy WAR-BUCK$ would gas up the plane and fly them, HIMSELF!!!
This really isn't a story. The right just took advantage of the slip up to create another diversion while simultaneously embarrassing the former president and current senator's campaign. TRIFECTA Christmas gift.

Bill is a pathological liar, and a sociopath. If Hill were to get elected they'd have a special team just to keep up with all his activities. Spin, cover, deny, delay, divert, obfuscate.

Hey I'm getting sentimental, it would be just like de ja vu all over again. ( 90's )

    Damage Control!!!

The two-party paradigm is losing it's potency. People are seeing through the charade. The elitists are banding together to save their sinking ship.

We always knew the Bushes and Clintons were tight like that.

I think they should be allowed to go anywhere in the world they want. As long as everyone on the trip pays their own way. That would put a stop to it.

CLINTONS, GO HOME!! Both are habitual liars. Bill can't wait until Hillary gets elected to the White House. Then he can get into another Intern's skirt. Hillary feels that the presidency is owed to her because she has to put up with all of Bill's affairs.

I like how CNN's headline states, "Bush nixes". That leads folks to believe that it was actually talked about or conceived at some point in time. The article clearly suggests that this was NEVER a possibility. But instead of calling a spade a spade, CNN covers the Clintons by spinning the title. Way to go CNN. Another "Diamond or Pearls" moment. The title should have been, "Bill caught revising history again."

Who cares about our image abroad? We are strong, they are weak. We are right, they are wrong. There is no moral equivalancy between the most generous country in the history of the world and third world hellholes. We have been bailing out our so called allies for generations and yet they never miss an opportunity to stick it to us or run their mouths about us. Bill Clinton was too busy getting nobbers from interns to worry about foreign policy when he was president, allowing AQ to blow up our buildings and ships and spend years getting the plans and assets for 9-11 in place. Why should we care what he or his power hungry wife think about foreign policy now? And why should GHWB undermine the excellent job his son has done in taking the fight to the crazies who would love to be blowing more of us up if only we would listen to the weak kneed liberals and back off the pressure we have been keeping on them?

Congenital Liar! He is a national disgrace just after his flunky, Al Gore. Democrats are a sad lot. Remember, he never got a majority of the American votes, so he is really a 'subset' of Americans. That subset is special. Merry Christmas!
