Bill Clinton: Hillary can best handle 'unexpected' threats

(CNN) - Bill Clinton told a group of New Hampshire voters that the "most important" reason to elect his wife Hillary president is that she would be best able to "deal with the unexpected," like another terrorist attack.

“You have to have a leader who is strong and commanding and convincing enough . . . to deal with the unexpected. There is a better than 50 percent chance that sometime in the first year or 18 months of the next presidency, something will happen that is not being discussed in this campaign,” he said at a Saturday campaign event.

“President Bush never talked about Osama bin Laden and didn't foresee Hurricane Katrina. And if you're not ready for that, then everything else you do can be undermined. You need a president that you trust to deal with something that we will not discuss in this campaign. . . . And I think, on this score, she's the best of all,” he said.

A recent memo from John Edwards' campaign predicted the Clinton campaign would try to appeal to voter anxiety over worst-case scenarios. "We know that Senator Clinton will spend the week touting her national security credentials in a move that echoes George Bush's 2004 campaign… We believe Democrats will not be fooled by efforts to play on their fears," wrote Edwards’ deputy campaign manager, Jonathan Prince.

Last week, the former president told another Granite State crowd that his wife was the most qualified to deal with issues like climate change and terrorism, compared to other candidates with less experience. He added that "how we meet those challenges will determine whether our grandchildren will even be here fifty years from now at a meeting like this listening to the next generation's presidential candidates."

Bill Clinton is right on when he says that Hillary is the best candidate for the Presidency. She is a very intelligent woman, knows a lot about not only foreign policy but of what this country needs to benefit people other then the rich. She and Bill have always worked for the middle class and the poverty stricken. WE need someone who will be a President for ALL people, not just the rich and the big corporations.

By the way, why are they not allowed to use Obama's middle name. They say William Jefferson Clinton, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. If he is ashamed of his middle name, by the way which is Hussien, then he should have changed it before going into politics.

All you die-hard Hillary supporters only repeat Hillary campaign stump points with no details or tangible evidence. Sorry Bill is a smooth political campaigner who will say the rights things, but lacks substainance. Just because Bill Clinton says this is true doesn't make it true. I still remember when Bill Clinton got in front of national TV, and responded 'I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN', and later apologized on national TV for outright lying. Specifically what has Hillary done that garners so much support for her so-called "experience". During her White House years what specifically did she help to resolve? What leadership and decision-making roles did she have and what were the results? During her senate tenure, what legislation did she passed?

Dee Ward Mena in AR- Thanks for playing the middle name card again. So, if it is SO IMPORTANT to focus on a middle name, why are John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Ron Paul, Bill Richardson, John Edwards, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee's middle names not used?

Is it a conspiracy, or is your need (like so many others) to point out the middle name to paint him negatively. His middle name is Hussein? His last name is Obama? OH NO!!!! Youre right, we can't elect him to be President!!!

By that logic, find me someone named America Liberty Washington so we can just crown them president.

If names are SO IMPORTANT as well, what happened to the RODHAM in the HILLARY RODHAM-CLINTON???? It disappeared so she can grap on the the CLINTON name.

I love that Bill had to say she was "convincing". Its not that she is honest or a good leader, its that she can lie to "convince" people that she is on their side. As for not forseeing Osama bin Laden, why didn't Clinton do anything to stop him when he had a chance?

I guess like with Rwanda, his wife couldn't "convince" him to do anything.

Every year under Clinton we had some half a million jobs created. I still recall telling my sisters that "we are living in a golden age in America". All my working-aged relatives and friends and myself were fully employed during Clinton's years. I still recall that some 80-year-old poor lady in Texas referred to Clinton as "Saint Bill".

Please don't forget that if you vote for Hilary Clinton, you are BUYING ONE GETTING ONE FREE.

But can anyone name specific achievements Obama or Hillary have made (that DONT involve raising taxes for "programs" for lazy people or making new "laws")? Im referring to leadership, making difficult decisions and reducing the taxpayer burden. Be as specific as possible. Thanks

If Hillary wins the democratic ticket, I am seriously voting Republican for President. I am sick and tired of Bush-Clinton. People need to wake up and vote someone different. Don't let Bill or anyone else scare you into believing Hillary is the most experienced and most ready to be President. The only experience she has is wearing her last name. She's a joke. I beg people to trust something different, and let this country move forward with a new name.

    Must be a Florida voter...........

Major corporations seek and hire executives, mostly CEO's that have mad specific acomplishments.

Neither Hillary, Obama, or John would be targeted by any headhunter firm as a candidate for a CEO anywhere.

Governors would, mayors would as they actually had to use decision making capability and were held to be responsibile to their citizens. All senators do is move taxpayer money from one special project to another and when they run out of money they raise taxes. Read that as programs to buy votes.

Please list just five accomplishments by the three frontrunners that acutally accomplished anything and how it would relate in becoming a CEO of a company, let alone the USA.

Hillary Clinton is the best choice for pesident. Without experience in the whitehouse nothing will get done. When her two terms are up and her vice president (Evan Byah) becomes president we will all she how great she and mr. Byah are. Obama has a short shelf life, he won't last long. Edwards is okay and would be better if his wife was seen more lately (like in the early going). Clinton is the only one that can win and is the one that will win. Without the Clintons where would America be today? In WWIII with a deficit ten times what it is now....yeah we need a Clinton to clean up after a Bush.
