Superman swoops in to defend Obama

Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.

Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.

INDIANOLA, Iowa (CNN) - He may be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but Superman can’t caucus.

Actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh is better-known for his role as Superman, but Sunday night he made a cameo appearance on the campaign trail, speaking on behalf of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama at a rally in Indianola, Iowa.

Routh says he is "sad" that he can't caucus any more because he no longer lives in the Hawkeye State, but he says he's "excited" by Obama's ability to unite the country. He also says he likes that Obama is not taking money from lobbyists or special interests.

Routh says he hopes his visit will empower people to caucus for Obama.

Routh is a former fashion model turned actor. He appeared on several television series before being cast as the title hero in the 2006 film Superman Returns.

But Obama has no executive experience. Compared with the many accomplishments of Mayor Guiliani who took over 600,000 people off welfare who were able-bodied to work, and who reduced crime by 50 percent in New York, and who successfully managed the second largest economy next to that of the United States itself; and compared with Mitt Romney- taking a bankrupt organization and turning it around , Obama has done nothing. Anyone could sit in committees and lobby for more and more money from already over-taxed citizens as Obama has done. And anyone could try to put new "laws" on the books. Nothing Obama has done shows leadership, grace under pressure or the desire to reduce government spending and lighten the taxpayers' burden...

Please explained to me why no one and I mean no one has asked obama about the
church he attends in chicago where he attends with Oprah.
The problem he has that I am told by many friends is the pastor has close ties with
black muslim leader Louis Farrakhan. I'm told not only does he have close ties with
farrakhan, this same pastor met with farrakhan in Libya with the country's leader while there.
someone needs to pulls some of the items and things this pastor have said.

The message is clear. A hero only follows another hero or a winner. I am glad that as the days go bye, even past the Iowa caucuses, more and more sound minded Americans will see the vision and desire to put their country in the hands of a great leader in the making!

Superman, we applaud you...I know the Hillary attack machine is going to start coming after you soon but i'm not worried b/c none of them is super!

    Welcome aboard the Obama wegon!

Not sure Routh is any "better-known for his role as Superman" as he is "actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh". If Obama fares as well as this Man of Steel did at the box office, he's in big trouble. I wouldn't characterize Brandon's endorsement as a necessarily positive thing.

Celebrities should stick to making movies, anyway. Especially when they're not even really celebrities.

Want to find out about Obama's Church he claims to be a member of? He says he is a member of the Trinity Church of Christ. Go to that website and I think you'll find out all you need to know about what he believes in. The website is It seems to me his church is nothing but racists who would like to take this country over. How could anyone vote for "Hussein" after learning this. And nowhere on that website does if mention anyone else but blacks (African and African-American). They include nobody else. These Hollywood characters aren't in touch with reality. They live in a different world.

HUCKABUTT: "My big brother can beat up your big brother....he's a karate champ!"

OBUMBLE: " Nuhh Uhh, cause MY big brother's Superman!!!"

Who ever let either of these two into the gene pool?

Oh goodie! Oprah and Superman. Now all Obama needs is Shrek and Mickey Mouse to endorse him, then we can just call off the election and celebrate. Yippee! Who gives a flying flip that "Superman" is supporting Obama. Who is Brandon Routh again?

That may all be true, but according to the AJC, it looks like Senator Obama would be the strongest opponent for any Republican candidate in the general.

"No taking money from lobbiests and special interests"

That sort of says it all!.

CAREFULLY research your candidates and see which ones are taking money from whom.

    It may scare you.

Hillary takes money from FOX NEWS owner Rupert Murcdoch.

    What does that tell you?

Hillary can bring thousands celebrities to join her. I remember Superman came to save the lady Lois, not a guy. Ha.....
Any way, who cares. We will not vote for you, not now, not ever. Ask the State where he's from, ask his hometown people, he is not what he said who he is. His supporters chasing a shadow, a shallow image. When everything said and done, he does NOT care about you AT ALL.

xtina, you are as biased as they come! Everytime you post it's something negative towards Democrats, mainly Obama. I can't wait until next Friday so you can eat those words. Stop criticizing so much and maybe you can see some of what Senator Obama has done in his NUMEROUS years of being elected to public office. Nobody gave him a snowball's chance in hell of beating Hillary and now it appears to be neck and neck in the early primary states. Whether or not you believe it his message is resonating. Deal with it!

Maybe he'll be getting Prince Philip's – the Duke of Edinburgh of England's endorsement next. But then again he is just a spouse and has no real foreign credentials 😉

  22. MT because he played Superman, he is not allowed to show his support for Obama? The point of having someone like Oprah or any other celebrity support you is not that somehow it directly gets you votes – celebrities draw people to events so that the candidate can present his/her case. In the case of Oprah, she brought the crowds in but it was Obama who sealed the deal.
