Schneider: Edwards the victim of record breaking turnout

(CNN) - Well over 200,000 Iowa Democrats participated in the caucuses tonight - a record- breaking number that hurt Edwards the most, our exit polls show.

According to the exit polls, 57 percent of Democratic caucus goers had never participated in a caucus before. Among that group, Edwards placed a distant third: he was at 18 percent among first timers, compared to Clinton's 29 percent and Obama's 41 percent.

Among experienced caucus-goers, Edwards came out on top with 30 percent, followed by Obama at 26 percent and Clinton at 25 percent.
