O'Reilly gets in confrontation with Obama staffer

O'Reilly got into a confrontation with an Obama staffer Saturday.

O'Reilly got into a confrontation with an Obama staffer Saturday.

(CNN) - Fox News talk show host Bill O'Reilly had a confrontation with a staffer for Barack Obama’s campaign that the aide and several eyewitnesses claim became physical.

The incident began when O’Reilly tried to get Obama’s attention after a Nashua campaign event. He allegedly began yelling at Obama’s National Trip Director Marvin Nicholson to get out of the way. O’Reilly then, according to eyewitness accounts, shoved the staffer.

Nicholson told CNN O'Reilly grabbed him by the arm and started "pushing" him. Nicholson also said that when he asked O'Reilly to stop pushing him, the talk-show host responded that he was "low class."

O’Reilly soon got Obama’s attention, and the two men spoke briefly.

"They shook hands and Mr. O'Reilly said that he thought Sen. Obama was great and that he loved him, and he'd love to have him on the show," Nicholson said. "And then the senator said that he would think about coming on the show after the primaries."

Then the Secret Service intervened to ask O’Reilly to step back behind the barricade that marked the press area.

Speaking later on Fox News, O'Reilly said he tried to "gently remove" the Obama staffer so his camera could get a shot of the Illinois senator.

"We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation," O'Reilly added, "but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on The O'Reilly Factor. It is not going to happen."

I'm a conservative and think Bill O'Reilly is an arrogant jerk. I don't know how the people at Fox News can continue to defend his actions and keep him on staff. Even if he's occasionally right on social or political issues, he's contentious, rude, and a jerk who turns people off with his behaviour. His 15 minutes of fame is over and he needs to shut up and sit down.

nadeem posted a comment on a previous piece: "The more they fight against the Obama movement, the more they appear like the same people who told Dr. King to slow down, who told Dr. King that America was not ready for the type of equality he sought. THe very people who told Dr. King to wait till next time. They appear to be on the wrong side if history, to not understand the 'fierce urgency of now' A terrible place for their legacy to end."

NADEEM QUESTION? Would those be "the same people" who fought along side of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement and gave their blood, sweat, & hearts as well - who spoke out against the Vietnam War and died at Kent State - who stood up for the womens' rights movement and still fiercely support women and childrens' rights around the world? THE very same rights that the youth of America today so freely take for granted?? Guess what NADEEM = those "same people" are called BABYBOOMERS!!! And the terrible legacy that they will leave is that they "failed to teach their children that EDUCATION is a terrible thing to waste"...

BARACK OBAMA IS A 47YR OLD " BABYBOOMER" WHO STOLE THE MANTRA OF THE 60's = "never trust the ESTABLISHMENT nor anyone over 30!" AND "All we are saying is give peace a chance"....

He is merely a POLITICAN who is running on exactly the same platform that JIMMY CARTER did in 1976!! A Washington outsider, offering change for the sake of change, with good solid family values – AND NO FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE = And America got stuck with 444 DAYS OF THE US EMBASSY IN IRAN HOSTAGE CRISIS!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter

NOW OBAMA HAS STOLEN MCCAIN'S "STRAIGHT TALK" SLOGAN!!! How original and refreshing is that?

😦 To the smutty hatefilled posters who vicariously take perverted pleasure out of trash talking Hillary and bad mouthing Edwards, you are giving the rest of the Obama supporters an extremely bad image. If you want to support Obama, you need to realize that he can't win the general election WITHOUT the combined support of the Edwards and Clinton Democrats. McCain appeals to many of the SAME voters as Obama. AND IF Bloomberg runs, he will pick off the rest of the Independents and stray Republicans.

ANYONE who is still naive enough to believe that the GOP political attack machine does NOT exist failed to watch 20/20 Friday night 1/4/08. AND on top of that, the 527 groups = T. BOONE PICKENS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._Boone_Pickens AND ROVE PLAY BY THEIR OWN RULES. To the "Whatever poster" who commented: "Obama is the next generations future. The over 50 crowd had there chance, now it is our generations time to lead." WELL – IF the babyboomers decide to sit this one out and let the younger generations go it alone –> GOOD "LUCK" AND GODSPEED - but alas then WHO will you have to blame if things don't go according to those newly 'RECYLED" hopes and dreams of the older generations??

It is not any "trip director's" job to restrain or stop people. That is the job of secret service and any other law enforcement officer on duty. Since O'reilly posed no threat, Marvin should have informed security instead of taking the law in his own hands.

why would O'Reilly call him low class? perhaps O'Reilly didn't really "push" him. The guy just exaggerated the fact to get publicity.

And who pays attention to this buffoon? Oh yeah, other buffoons. he's lucky he didn't get tazed. In all seriousness, I do wonder about his mental stability. Fox News is certainly leaving itself open to some lawsuits.

Met O'Reilly at a college event a few years back and he was quite arrogant and self absorbed. No doubt he exhibited those same endearing qualities at the Obama event.

Bill O'Reilly was wrong and out of line. He really knows how to cross the line and he has a habit of stooping to the lowest level. He really needs to be cautious of what comes out of his mouth. I'm not impressed by anything he says or do.....i'm just not a fan of Bill O'Reilly.

I spent almost 20 years in the media and I don't recall a day where I thought that I was the story. When will we finally grow up as a nation and stop rewarding the Norths, Limbaughs and O'reilly's. Turn the channel!
( I'm not singling out conservatives, I just can't remember any liberal shock media talking heads anymore.)
Turn off, tune out and get on with life. And if murrow ever heard "No one on this earth will stop me"?! ..my goodness, but these people think they are entitled to act any way they please and say anything that comes to their minds. O'reilly reminds me of a weather forecaster.. never around to appologize for their wake of inflammatory behaviorl. I'll make sure my kids are blocked from his show. They watch this stuff too.
