Top Giuliani staffers to go without pay

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/2008/images/01/11/art.giulianistaff.ap.jpg caption="Top Giuliani staffers are going without a salary in January, CNN has learned."] MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) - CNN has learned that top staff members of Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign were asked to work without pay for the month of January, and perhaps longer, so that campaign resources could be focused on the Florida Republican presidential primary.

Two sources in the campaign, speaking on condition of anonymity, insisted the campaign was not in dire financial straits. A third campaign source, however, said "things are starting to get tight" and that "it was more telling than asking" the senior staff to forgo paychecks beginning the first of the year.

Another source disagreed, saying it was a "voluntary" move by senior staff members "so all of our resources could be targeted toward Florida...Our campaign is not living hand to mouth right now…"

The officials did not immediately provide a number of staffers who were subject to the new policy. Nor would campaign officials disclose the amount of money the campaign had in the bank.

UPDATE: The Giuliani campaign reports as of December 31 it has $12.7 million cash on hand, of which over $7 million can be used for the primary contests.

Who was Rudy Juliani on September 10th?

He was a has been mayor, getting his second divorce (first wife was a cousin), and was no where in the ratings – and he was full of hatred. Look at his side kick Kerick – how could someone so sleazy be so close to Juliani, and him not know it?

September 11 – He suddenly became a hero – and I will admit, he did a good job of keeping NYC together, although it was not just him, but he was the face.

Basically skipping the first races of the nominating process is a terrible insult to the people of those states and to the whole process. Talk about a cynical old-school politicians and you have to put Rudy on the list.

If I here him mention 9/11 as the reason for xyz once more I may puke.

Goodbye and goodnight Rudy. Thank you for your service, please go back to shaking down people, companies and countries with your consulting firm.

This guy should worry about his connections to Brenard Kerik and hope he stays out of trouble. The presidency is way over his head

Mccain would be super as well. I am concerned that the stress of the job would be more than he can deal with at his age. I would be willing to vote for him depending on who he has for a vice president. Mccain is truly a GREAT American. I think Rudy would be a great war president due to the fact that this whole thing that the U.S is schlogging through will break wide open again if the Hajis see a weak pres take over..i.e Obama, or Hillary...I do not have anything negative to say about them except that we need to stay tough or all those American lives we have lost will be for not.

You have to remember, the 9/10 Rudy was not well liked, he was not very popular with most people in New York. Then 9/11 came along and he, rightfully at that point, enjoyed a huge upswing in popularity due to his actions. I always heard from friend in New York that 49 states know him mostly because of 9/11 but that as soon as America figured out what New York knew about him on 9/10, he wouldn't stand a chance of being elected.

Rudy will still win the nomination. After Florida and Super Tuesday, it will all be over. Rudy wins over Hillary Clinton in November.

Rudy will never be able to take away Florida's illegal alien vote from Liberal Democrat John McCain who has the backing of Ted Kennedy and Al Gore's running mate Joe Lieberman. Even if Rudy won in the primary, George W Bush is going to win in the general election because the H1-B Indian computer programmer responsible for programming the Diebold voting machines moved to Ohio.
